I've seen advice everywhere on various cleaning hacks. Lots involve mixing an acidic (vinegar/citric) and a base (baking soda). The base neutralizes the acidic when mixed, defeating the entire purpose of using and acidic for cleaning. But the chemical reaction looks cool 🧐

I use Easy Off and a nylon scrub brush and it makes it look good as new .

I just dump the cutting board in a sink overnight with clorox and water, works great. Regarding lemon juice and baking powder I'm sure there's some abrasive properties that clean but those two products neutralize each other and there's no chemical cleaning. It's a base and acid. Love the channel!

Don't use borax if you are on septic and it drains near trees. Almost killed a maple tree of mine till I figured it out and stopped using. Tree came back.

I use Oxyiclean! Dissolve in hot water and put cutting board in or stained cups, etc.

I just rub with lemon let it dry then fill sink with hot hot water & bleach overnight, wake up rinse & it’s like new with no scrubbing 😊

Same here, but I don’t bother with the dishwasher. I let the Clorox cleaner sit a few minutes then rinse it in hot water. Stain gone!

I just used baking powder, which I may have misread, and cleaning vinegar on my cutting board. I will try this borax trick next time.

I just use bleach and then run thru the dishwasher. Yes, it’s harsh, but is the only way to whiten a stained cutting board.

I tried various methods: soaking in a strong Oxiclean (sodium carbonate peroxide) solution overnight, scrubbing with a thick paste of chlorine based cleanser, and letting that paste stay on the board overnight. The stains faded a bit but were still obvious. Then I soaked it in a 20% chlorine bleach solution for 5 hours and the stains were 90% gone.

Great ideas except when you’re camping, no dishwasher and never use bleach there but I certainly will try your method after I return from camping. Thanks for the easy tips.

I like to put on undiluted hydrogen peroxide wait a couple minutes and then put some undiluted white distilled vinegar over it. Let it sit about an hour or so and then come back try to scour it a little bit and rinse it and dry it. And then do it all over again. Very simple and it's sanitizes also!

Please don't do that. Mixing hydrogen peroxide and vinegar will react to peracetic acid, which is highly corrosive and harmful to your body

No need for all that. Soak the boards in household bleach for a little and then wash. Done! You sanitize and clean all in one.

Andrea...Lemon and baking soda don't make sense since the baking soda neutralizes the lemon or vinegar acid...so basically you are just scrubbing with a mild abrasive, baking soda.
