Funny story, I didn't know its called deep squat. Here in the Philippines this is just a normal sit down position, we only do this if there's no chair or any platform to sit on, my foreigner friend was surprise on how long I can stay in that position.

I love this because in the west I’ve heard it called the “Slav Squat” there’s some kind of divide here between cultures that live a little soft and other cultures that just do what they gotta do to be comfy 😆 (having the squat power is clearly superior)

I grew up in the west (the Netherlands) and to me this was also always a sitting position for when there's no chair!! I'm honestly suprised that people don't know about it. Anyways there's a high chance that you can sit in it for longer etc. as it's probably more normal in the Philippines than it is here Also I always do it with my heels up lmao I thought that that was normal up until this video, where I also discovered that my ankles are apparenly the problem

Omg I couldn't do a yogi squat during my yoga session. Even with blocks I felt I wasn't doing it right. I KZfaqd how to do a proper yogi squat and this short video came up. Omg it helped me understand. Turns out the problem is my ankles and knees. With the shin stretch and good mornings I saw a difference when i tried the yogi squat. Makes sense now why I get shin splits when I run. I'm happy I learned this about my body in my 30s and get it closer to function properly before it's too late. Thank you.

@shamachelon

Mine do that, too. Magnesium chloride and silica. ✨Ancient Minerals for the magnesium, I make a spray out of it with boiled water + the flakes. ✨Horsetail and/or moringa leaf tea to relieve the joints, it’s like a lubricant! Only thing I’d do balance the taste with chamomile or even spearmint whist you’re stretching. Soothes the mind and gives you a spark of inspiration to work out your long-term goals. A teaspoon of each loose herb from a local store should do it. ✨Be sure to deep breathe more, it resets the nervous system. Lastly, you’ll be in my prayers to my God. If you do not believe in Him, that’s ok too. Just know, people do care for your spirit. Shalawam! (Be at peace!)

I've been run-training on my own for years. I fell in love with the Jacob's Ladder because I couldn't do Squats without pain or my ankles immediately moving up. I thought maybe I trained my body weight to move up or forward and would use foam mats under my heels to keep going. Last week, I "gave up" squats with the thought: "idk how to fix this, I'm just going to give up squats". Your channel popped up today with this video. I got up and can barely stretch my ankles with the Stretches you suggested "if it's your ankles". I am so happy. You just helped alter my entire fitness journey. I can imagine years down the road thinking "If only I had done some research.. or listened to that man.." if i hadnt just tried the stretches you suggested and kept scrolling. My part is that I tried your Stretches. Your part is making this knowledge available to me. We are amazing. I appreciate you so so much♡ Thank you♡

It could be that your foot arc is very immobile. Arc should flatten when the knee moves over the toes. There are videos about it, you can improve it.

I'm totally flexible enough to squat. No problem. Just my belly getting in the way. So I open squat with legs at 90°. That works fine, always has. I'm almost 50. I've noticed recently that I'm beginning to be less flexible than I used to be. This channel and a couple of others (specialised in old age and prevention) really help. Now I stretch different things a few times in the day, and I put on my shoes and socks while balancing on one leg. Unless I'm standing at the top of the staircase. No point risking that. But I'm getting better, even after just a few weeks. Thanks for all you do.

I started Physical therapy to strengthen my core and start to build muscle and mobility. I need to lose a lot of weight as I am approaching 300 due to medical issues and I found out building muscles would help me do that. In PT we started to work on squats, and everyone was amazed at how strong I actually am, and that at almost 300 pounds how close to a deep squat, I can do. They call the deep squat just a full squat, and a 90-degree squat just a half squat. I have a little more work to do before I can do the full squat, but I am so close. Mostly just working on proper form.
