The smash follow-up was weak (backhand push at the center line). He could have won the point by cross-net dropping to force another dive and continued the attack. This is why one has to think about placement (quickly). Saying that the defense needs no thought is just ignorant (Lee's placement forced the opponent to run diagonally-- the longest distance available).

Lee chong wei have the best defence and footwork in badminton history. Not even lin dan can beat chong wei defence and footwork. The reason why lin dan always have the upper hand is because his strong crosscourt smash attack and his agresif style make him have the upperhand against lee chong wei. But both of lindan and chong wei are the best in the history of badminton
@YangYang-ct2gx
@YangYang-ct2gx 2 жыл бұрын
Lin Dan has better body I would say compared lcw as lcw is skinny type of body. Besides that, Lin Dan is also taller than him so lcw has to move more and smash harder just to win one mark.
@KeithHiew
@KeithHiew 2 жыл бұрын
Morten Frost once said that LCW is afraid of the defence of Lin Dan & Chen Long. The reason why he lost many times against these two was because his attacks won’t work as well as it did against other players, and he had no Plan B. So I’d say LD & CL had a better defence than LCW.
@aliey9330
@aliey9330 2 жыл бұрын
@@KeithHiew since when lee chong wei lose a lot to cheng long? lee chong wei win more against chen long. Lin dan defence is not as good as chong wei, his attacking style play make lindan afraid by many people not his defence. Lee chong wei is the fastest player and have the best diving technique. His diving technique is the fastest in the badminton history. After diving, he get up faster than other player.
@YangYang-ct2gx
@YangYang-ct2gx 2 жыл бұрын
@@KeithHiew not really tho if you comparing the height of lcw with ld and cl. I believes that everyone know that height contributes alot in attacking due to the angle and you doesnt have move around that much compared to shorter people like lcw. Their defense are almost the same level except that lcw has better dive skill (due to he is shorter and agile). It is abit hard to compare each other defense skill by just looking at head to head results as their playstyle are different and obviously china has better facillities, coaches which will bring an disadvantage to LCW.
@YangYang-ct2gx
@YangYang-ct2gx 2 жыл бұрын
@@KeithHiew I would say LCW always lost to LD and CL because of he had to join alot competition just to keep his performance is always on top level as we only had literally one single player that is good enough to compete unlike China has many single players where they could just train within their country without joining that much competitions. As you join more competitions, your strategies will get exposed and ofc your stamina will get exhausted which is the key for singles. Another thing is LCW mental strength as Malaysia didnt even won a single gold medal in olympics which means that every hopes are lying on him (you will know what I mean if you are a Malaysian where almost every Malaysian will gather up to watch his plays) unlike China has won so many gold medals, badminton is just a small part of their focus so yea... Anyway their era was gone now where we only can watch back their replays now.
