My blog is ScratchPantry.com where you can find all my recipes!
One of my favorite crops to grow are onions! Their flavor is incredible and I was so happy to get to harvest and dry onions from my own garden this year! I hope you try drying your own onions to stock your own pantry! Home preservations is one of the most rewarding things you can do! I hope you enjoy watching me make dinner!

For two weeks solid I have made every effort possible to change our home from a commercialized home to place of homesteading. You are on in the background constantly and I've caught up on every one of your videos. You are now my mother. I'm old enough to be yours but whatever...THANK YOU! I can barely grown my own nails and now I'm planting, canning, buying chickens...you name it! You are a blessing!

Dehydrating onions, garlic, or spicy peppers also works well if you put the front of the dehydrator against the window screen so it vents to the outside.

I saw this video last yr and so i decided to try dehydrating some onions....omg!!!! The flavor of home dehydrated onions are amazing, nothing like what you get in the stores. I then decided to do the same with celery, eqyally amazing. I will never buy store bought again. I even gifted my adult daughter, and my 3 adult sons, including my mom a small half pint of each. Then i started getting request for more!! They absolutely love them. So everytime we make a trip back home to Tennessee (currently living in Maryland) I always take them all couple jars of each.

I love dehydrating veges. This year, I have been taking them to the next level and powdering them. Two sink fulls of spinach turned into a 1/4 pint jar of spinach powder. One tablespoon of that would be like a large plateful of fresh spinach.

Although it's totally normal, I can't help finding you so adorable whenever you say "My Husband" 😆😆😆 I don't know, there's just something very loving in your energy every time you say that and I have to say that I love it! 😆😆😆 Maybe I'm slightly living vicariously through you? Great idea to dehydrate outside! I haven't dehydrated onion yet, but will definitely remember now when I do, so thank you! I have the same dehydrator, it's amazing, so much better than the nesco I first bought, hated switching trays so often, it's worth the price to just walk away and not think about switching trays, added unnecessary stress. I live in Wisconsin, I did with onions like I do with other plants and started indoors 🤦next year I'm hoping to be less dumb, still new to this lol we have had a drought all summer here, lot of bugs, only the people with a ton of experience have had success in the conditions, oh well, next year will be better 🤞

Just discovered this and thought I’d share if it might help others. If you have a convection oven, you may have a dehydrator button on your oven! My oven temp is 150F minimum but the dehydrator option allows me to go down to 100F and blows a fan. I literally just figured this out 30 minutes ago and I immediately harvested some kale and am now dehydrating for green powder! 😊

I love your dog mine is a Australian shepherd Queensland heeler. White with tan patches and a little black by his ears. His tail wags up down back and forth and in circles. He does a rodeo dog move too like a rocking horse then he spins. Thank you for all you do. Hugs

Sage makes a wonderful healing tea with lemon and ginger. Great for summer/winter colds. Definitely breaks up that mucous.
