I like running a 4 day split over a M W F for a while to deload and decompress.

This arrived at the right time Andy, and makes me think: After the quarantine had passed, the ideal would be testing conservative singles for the big lifts? Or what do you recommend?

Very timely video. Would you recommend a deload week following a 1RM testing week (i.e., low volume)? I'm about to start your garage gym warrior 2 program.

Thanks Andy! After completing a week long deload, would you recommend starting back repeating the week right before the deload and then progressing? Or can we jump right back into it and go for the next overloading progression and set new PRs?

hey andy, im strict pressing 3x a week, 3x12 day1, 4x12 day2, 5x12 day3, all with the same weight, 2nd week it will be sets of 13, all the way until I can do sets of 15, using a RIR protocol, would it be too much too add a supplemental movement like the z press? in the 85-95% range, focusing on triples, doubles, singles twice a week after pressing? thanks!

Find the book: "Barbell Prescription, strength training for lifters over 40". It should be on the Starting Strength/Aasgard website.

Bullshit detrain in a week when your already about to lose strength from overtraining . Starts the whole thing off by saying people overcomplicated and it's not that complicated yet takes 30 minutes to simply complicate the d*** thing. I mean, just take a week off from training guys and come back, though you're not gonna detrain if you truly needed, the deload a week off will only help it will not hurt.

A highly trained lifter will lose neurological efficiency with a full week off. Name a single accomplished olympic weight lifter or lower weight class athlete who preps for a meet by taking a full week off. They don't. Some super heavies might, but your lower/medium weight class lifters absolutely do not. If you are a recreational lifter then it's fine. It doesn't matter that much. But if you are trying to peak for competition or minimize drop off while deloading I don't recommend full week off in most circumstances.

Why not take off the week completely and come back. Why lift at all that week it's only a week. Ur not going to shrink or go down in strength that fast??????

You won't shrink because muscle mass and neurological efficiency are two different things. Deloads are mainly about preserving neurological efficiency. A highly trained lifter will lose neurological efficiency with a full week off. Name a single accomplished olympic weight lifter or lower weight class athlete who preps for a meet by taking a full week off. They don't. Some super heavies might, but your lower/medium weight class lifters absolutely do not.
