Thank you, Devon. That was a helpful explanation. Nowadays, in Israel, they're using thermal cameras to detect changes of temperature in plants, mostly agriculture on large scale in order to use the exact amount of water it'll be needed to do the job. Apparently the jet sprinklers are triggered each time the programmer gets the information from the activity of the thermal cameras. It's amazing. Everything grows a whole lot faster and larger in size. It was very helpful indeed to hear you speak. Thank you. Viewer from Portugal.

Thank you Devin for this explanation, I was reading the report of observations from thermographic scan of a ceiling with spots of moisture. There was cold thermal pattern during negative pressure scan at some spots; but there was no cold thermal pattern noticed during positive pressure scan. What could be responsible for this?

I own a roofing company. What would be the best camera for leak detection with water inside and out. Something that will work outside when the roof and air are the sane temp possibly.

Excellent video! Ok, so... if you had to choose between a non-contact/pinless moisture meter or a Thermal imager, to detect moisture inside a wall... which would you choose and why(?)
@TEquipment
@TEquipment 3 жыл бұрын
We would actually suggest using both together. The thermal camera is 100% the best tool for initial investigations - it will instantly show you cooler (wet) areas in a scene. It's a super fast way to find moisture in and behind walls. Once you have located wet areas with the thermal camera, you can go in with the moisture meter and take precise readings.

i have a friend that lives in an Airstream RV and gets severe reactions to black mold and moisture and always needs to check for water leakage. which type of thermal camera would you recommend?

For that type of application, the most convenient (and cheapest) option would be smartphone-based IR cameras. Check out these models for iOS on our website (Android versions are also available): www.tequipment.net/Seek-Thermal/Compact-iPhone/Building-and-Industrial-Thermal-Imagers/ www.tequipment.net/FLIR/ONE-PRO-LT-iOS/Building-and-Industrial-Thermal-Imagers/ Also make sure to check out our comparison videos: kzfaq.info/sun/PLYkzrgUgH3zffyeubFHRYkZbhEslpLkCA

Cool, does it need to be a Flir brand? Could 200 thermal imagers see where the leak is in the walls? Any affordable thermal imaging cameras you can recommend to see hidden leaks? Thanks.
@TEquipment
@TEquipment 3 жыл бұрын
In general, any radiometric thermal imaging camera should be able to detect cooler spots which indicate hidden moisture inside drywall. FLIR is the leader in this area but you can achieve this with most other brands too. The most budget-friendly options we offer are smartphone accessory style IR cameras which must connect to a phone to be used. Check out these options on our site - FLIR ONE Pro LT: www.tequipment.net/FLIR/ONE-PRO-LT-iOS/Building-and-Industrial-Thermal-Imagers/ Seek Compact: www.tequipment.net/Seek-Thermal/Compact-iPhone/Building-and-Industrial-Thermal-Imagers/

How would someone, using an E8 for example, determine the difference between moisture at a ceiling versus maybe just a cold spot due to a lack of insulation? TIA
@TEquipment
@TEquipment 3 жыл бұрын
That's a great question that doesn't really have a simple answer. Our thermographers say that it really comes down to experience - as you do more thermal inspections, you'll be able to recognize the subtle differences and know what to look for. To start, think about how those two problems might present themselves differently. For example, moisture would pool and run downhill while insulation problems would be between floor joists or roof members and appear more squared off on-camera.

Great explanation. Can the FLIR C5 see water seepage on a concrete basement wall behind the plastic vapor barrier insulation and drywall?
@TEquipment
@TEquipment 3 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely, it should be able to see temperature differences created by moisture behind the vapor barrier and drywall. However, it won't be able to see through the concrete itself.

If your budget is $1000 and you plan to use the camera in your business then we recommend you stay away from smartphone-based thermal cameras as these are more targeted at the consumer market - they provide decent resolution at a consumer-friendly price thanks to the smartphone platform. The smartphone platform is more difficult to use for long periods, tends to be much less durable, and has shorter battery life. We recommend you check out the E5 from FLIR - this is a professional IR camera and is currently on sale for $999 while supplies last. Check it out here: www.tequipment.net/FLIR/E5-WiFi/

Buy a Flir E4 with modified software. The E-4 - E8 is the same hardware, but different firmware. Smart people have figured out how to make the E4 and E8 with just giving it the E8 firmware. For $1,200 you can have the same camera as the $3,000 E8. You can find them from reputable eBay sellers.

One of our top budget recommendations is the Hikmicro E1L - it has a temperature range covering -20°C - 550°C, 160x120 resolution and 8hr battery life but it does not have any image blending capability. Check out our recent demo video here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNKjq6Wbl9-1iWg.html For your needs, a smartphone-based IR camera might also work well. I'm getting a headache watching your eyes dart around like you're reading script but I guess that's better than freezing up in front of the camera and forgetting what you're saying. I have a flir I just want to see what the mold looks like on it.

1 kcal is energy equivalent raise 1 gram of water per celsius ....wasn't it per liter ? xD
@TEquipment
@TEquipment 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what the formula is for kcal. The small calorie or gram calorie (cal) is the amount of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius (or one kelvin).
