Thanks for another great video 🤗. So many variables with resistance and heat production. Sometimes a sneaky bad bearing or connection will skew all the metrics 😝. People that take shortcuts or don't maintain their rigs properly are the most likely to not temp check systematically or gear their rigs to the moon. 😎💪👊👊

Hello ,i need to order a 20 tooth pinion,to add more speed,but not sure of size its for a ZD racing 1/16 scale car ... it has a 3300 kv brushless motor... i think it a 24 40 can size... in my sg 1603 it used a 380 size brushed motor and i replaced it with a 4600 kv 2440 and just used the stock pinion which worked perfect... any help in pin pointing the correct part i need to order is appreciated... i ran several searches on ebay and all the pinions seem wrong size shaft and i am not sure of what pitch i need either... thanks

Good timing with this video as I'm trying to figure out what to put in a X-Maxx that I put a Castle Monster 8S/1717 1650kv combo in. I currently have 24/50 in it and pull over 12hp and 386amps. I got an over amp warning in my data log. Strange thing is my temp was 140f and ripple was good. Ordered a set of Gensace RS7500 4S batteries hoping they will help. Was running a set of Gensace 5000 45c. Any thoughts?

More teeth on the pinion add about an extra 4F to the motor per tooth (that is a 2200kv castle motor, the higher the kv the more the motor heat is affected by gearing) also to calculate your exact top end gain and acceleration loss (or vice versa) you need to get the gear ratio prior to changing it by dividing the spur by the pinion, get the gear ratio you want, divide the smaller by the bigger to get a percentage, and use that percentage to multiply with your top speed or 0-top-end. For an example my rc was going 32mph with that very same castle motor, a 45/21 gear ratio (2.143) and on a 2s battery. Now the ratio is 45/25 (1.8) and when you do the math that’s a 17.2% difference for roughly a 5.5mph top-end gain, the actual gain was something closer to 4.5mph but still it was pretty precise for just a estimate. I also believe inaccuracies in the formula are due to the changes a motor will make to its amperage draw and what happens when it hits it’s maximum electrical current, but I haven’t yet proved that.

Hello Im super inexperienced in the rc world and having problems finding any answers online with this issue, if the shaft size of the motor is 3.12mm and the pinion id hole is 3mm, and its a brass push on type of pinion, is the heat going to expand the pinion enough to fit the shaft. Any tips would be helpful thanks.

Got a question, Hope you respond. I replaced my Pinion and I tightend it all the way down where you could not move forward or backwards, You could only move it with the gearing to side to side. I took it out for a test drive and got everything tuned up to what I wanted it to be, The Pinion gear just keeps coming lose and flying off. Do I need to glue it? Or what do I need to do ? Thanks

Don't you just shoehorn the biggest motor/esc you can in there then use the biggest pinion that doesn't let the smoke out?
