Uhh the part where you disconnected the battery I couldn't see the small metal cap you needed to pull before lifting the connector off and it just kinda snapped off my motherboard. What do I do from here :'(

Thanks. Just followed your video and broke my motherboard because you didn't mention the battery connector needs to be pulled back before you attempt to lift. Looks like I'm not the only one.

Sorry it looks integrated into the keyboard, which is integrated into the palmrest. You may need to switch out your whole palmrest assembly.

Do I need to apply new thermal paste to the CPU and GPU when I do a reassembly? My keyboard backlight is not working (I bought a UX550VD Zenbook Pro as a refurbished model) and I want to check is every keyboard cable is connected well.

The keyboard is replaceable (had to do it myself), however, it's a tedious job. You have to crack off the tiny melted plastic pieces that hold the keyboard down, replace the new keyboard into the same plastic nubs, then superglue over the nubs where the plastic was melted before that held down the original keyboard. It works like a charm, albeit it takes about an hour just to do this part of the procedure.

MAKE SURE TO PUSH THE METAL BIT BACK OFF THE BATTERY CONNECTOR BEFORE YOU "GRAB FROM BELOW AND LIFT" OR "POP IT UP AND OFF". I feel so stupid sitting here with a trashed motherboard. Don't make the same mistake.

I can't believe this guy is refusing to address this in any way, shape, or form to save face. It is completely unprofessional and devalues the trust of his platform. I don't know if the gentleman lacks the awareness or business sense to address this, but it is a very weasely thing to not address it.

If thats your issue then most likely your fans or heatsinks are clogged.

I have the same problem. I think the main cause is the body, which is really badly designed. it is like a cork that does not ventilate the components. it's absurd that they only left a gap in the screen hinge.

Hi! This video was great. Have been working on Dells for years but had to tear down an Asus today. Symptom was that it would die as soon as it was unplugged from the charger. Had bought a new battery, but turns out it is the actual motherboard battery connector that is damaged and broken off. If it was Dell I could just hit them up on chat and they'd send me a new motherboard tomorrow for free. Guess I get to find out how good and/or terrible Asus's support is now, LOL. 🤷‍♂️🤣 Thanks for the video, anyway!

Adding to my original comment: ASUS support was completely unwilling to help me with my problem. Even though I could clearly tell them what the issue was, and even provide photos, they wanted to charge me a ridiculous $79 "diagnosis fee" and $700 for a motherboard. Something that a vendor like Dell would have done for free under warranty. My company made the mistake of buying $90,000 worth of ASUS laptops between 2019-2020. Never again. They do not stand behind their products.
