This machine wasn’t worth fixing. But this video should still help you fix your machine. These are actually really simple to take apart. Even to replace the motor isn’t that bad. These were designed to be tossed when something besides a belt or filter needs to be replaced. You simply can't get any other parts for them, and the fact an OEM brush roll costs $50 at several sites I checked is just asinine. They want you to buy a new machine.

I'm not sure what people will think of my solution for getting rid of the hair that gets caught up in the roller but it has always worked well for me. I light up a cigarette lighter and the quickly (QUICKLY) go over the area between the brushes. I found that it only takes a couple of seconds to burn the hair off and I have never melted any of the bristles on the brush. Just my two cents worth.

I disassembled mine today that I got second hand dirt cheap because it was throwing the dust on the back. And there behind the square filter, inside an internal basketbear the motor in a really unreachable location it was totally and completely clogged by carpet debris. It was a pain to disassemble, this guy did it way easier. But after I removed about 500 grams of clogged carpet debris stuck in it, the machine was working perfectly

Love the lightweight Dirt Devils the suction is amazing 😍, I keep it cleaned and lasts forever. Just dropped by to see how to change the filter for this new one so I wouldn't have to keep buying bags.

My belt burned off on this vacuum and I replaced it only to find out my effort wasn’t enough.😂 I ran into another problem, so one of the end caps off the brush roller has magically opened up slightly and there was hairs getting stuck onto the bearing of the roller. Not only did it burn the belt, it burned the hairs on the bearing. 🙄 I’ve seen online how much the replacement rollers go for. Like you said $40-$50+ I might as well buy a new vacuum 🤦‍♀️ I really wish they’d design a better version with very little issues.

thank goodness they changed the handle design to where the dirt goes into the canister instead of up through the handle although it still could clog with dirt. Great video, I hope mine lasts a while now that you've shown some issues that the vacuum cleaner has. Keep it clean and hope that it lasts over 18 months, three years might be pushing it....

I bought this vaccum couple weeks ago. Tube was slog with our dog hair. Your video help me take it apart and put it back together. Thanks. In the future definitely have to do some research on which one is the best.

Modern Dirt Devils seem to be much cheaper built than some of the older ones. We had a hand held one that seemed to be built fairly well but that was 20 years or so ago I think. I enjoy tearing them down just not putting them back together again. Thanks for the video.

I can’t get the top (with handle) to go back on. It appears like it is on, but comes off while holding it by handle, spilling everything I just vacuumed up.

The lighter and the hair thing works, but you have to be careful not to burn yourself or set your carpet on fire! I have not been able to get my Endura Max XL working correctly and it is practically brand new. I have spent a lot of time cleaning it up and trouble shooting it. This video helped with the trouble-shooting part, but the hose setup on my vacuum is different so I wasn't able to figure out what I am doing wrong in terms of the hose setup. I won't ever buy one of these cheap Dirt Devil vacuums again. Saving money is not worth it when you end up with a piece of crap.

Hi Hank, I am trying to tear apart a similar dirt devil to clean it. How do I get to clear hose to come off of the attached parts? Do I just yank? It desperately needs to be cleaned and cannot be left alone.

Same. I couldn't free one end, but managed to pull out the clogs with a wire and some needle nosed pliers from the other end until it was loosened up enough to suck it through. Very satisfying!

As of today....2/10/2021 at target it is $49.99 on sale at target....and that's really only a tad bit less than non sale price. For a $50 vacuum I'd expect at least a couple years just to get by till you can get a decent one. Sad it seems so new and already broke. I was considering this one as I don't have the money for a new one and my cheap $45 bissell just took a crapper. Just decided to do the bissell clean view one pass. I know still bad but got better reviews at least

Next time just go to a vacuum shop and pick up a good used machine for that price, they refurbish them all the time and much better quality than these plastic ones.

@@hanksgarage_ only ones near me are Kirby vendors.....I don't have that kind of cash 🤣 at least not yet. Give me a few years with my new cheapie then maybe 🤣 thankfully I have all tiles floors an one very thin area rug.

Just a bad design, I would be tempted to ditch the onboard wand option and simply use it as a handle only. Disconnect the hose from the handle completely. Then couple the nozzle hose directly to the vacuum intake.

Thanks. This turns out to be a cheap and terrible vacuum. Reassembling the filter was a nightmare. The part of the cannister that was supposed to rotate does not click into place. Who engineered this? Obviously not someone with the end user in mind. Thank you for doing what you could to help.

They’re garbage, made to be disposable. If you want one that will last you’ll have to go to a vacuum store. Sharks are just as bad, dysons are serviceable but parts are somewhat expensive and they don’t last long to begin with.

I had the exact same problem!!! No matter how hard I tried, I could not re-attach and lock the cylindrical filter assembly/lid back onto the dirt cup (canister.) The lid seemed to want to override the tracks, so it wouldn't sit evenly, hence it would not lock. I'm returning it tomorrow. I've only used it twice. I appreciate your video showing how smooth the upper filter/lid assembly SHOULD rotate and lock onto the canister. Thank you.

Now that's one nasty vacuum,we have a canister vacuum made by the same company and it's fairly reliable but not the best we've ever owned though.

The parent company of Dirt Devil is TTI, a company based in HK. They also own, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Hart, Rigid, Stiletto, Homelife, VAX, AEG, Hoover, and Oreck. So it will be awhile before they go belly up.
