In this lesson, we will explain in detail how to disassemble the kitchen faucet, replace the old gaskets with new ones and completely repair the faucet.
The repair of the kitchen faucet is divided into several steps:
- 1:23 How to remove the faucet from the sink without removing the faucet from the sink - we show you which key we use to unscrew the nut securing the faucet on the sink;
- 3:24 How to unscrew the lower faucet nut in the kitchen and show how to remove the rotating cylinder with the spout (gooseneck), remove the old o-rings and the old lantern rings;
- 7:35 Show how to remove the water switch lever (handle) if the lever fixing screw on the cartridge leg is not unscrewed, at the same time, if the lever is not removed, we break out the decorative nut and saw the cartridge leg - all this is done to get to the nut securing the cartridge to the body;
- 12:58 When we got to the nut, there was a problem - the nut does not unscrew, this problem often occurs when disassembling the old mixer for the kitchen, which has been flowing for a long time under the feet of the cartridge. This problem was solved by knocking on the pressure nut and it unscrewed. If it is not possible at all, you can soak it in vinegar or WD-40 and try to unscrew it again;
- 16:00 An important step in the repair of the old mixer is to remove deposits from the cartridge and o-rings under the rotating cylinder. We use vinegar and a dishwasher sponge, a screwdriver and a toothbrush for cleaning.
- 26:12 unscrew the old aerator, in our case we cannot unscrew it - we break it and remove it in pieces. Clean the thread at the end of the spout and show how to install a new aerator (net).
- 31:11 We start to assemble the mixer - we show how to install the new o-rings and the upper plastic lantern ring from the repair kit instead of the old ones on the kitchen mixer;
- 34:35 We continue to assemble the mixer - we install a rotating cylinder with a spout on the body of the mixer for the kitchen from above on the o-rings (rings).
- 35:36 Under the rotating cylinder of the kitchen faucet with the spout we put on the lower spacer ring and screw on the new lower nut with the gasket.
- 37:07 Closer to the end of the kitchen mixer repair we install the cartridge in the mixer body, paying attention to the cartridge protrusions entering the recesses at the bottom of the mixer body - this indicates that the cartridge is installed correctly.
- 38:29 Press the cartridge against the mixer body by tightening the cartridge nut, and do not clamp the cartridge too hard not to crush it. Screw the decorative nut onto the threads of the cartridge pressure nut.
- 39:38 Put on the water switch lever on the cartridge leg and fix it with a 2.5 mm hexagon screw. (or maybe a small flat screwdriver screw).
Assembly and disassembly of the kitchen faucet (faucet) is complete - everything that can be replaced and the faucet is almost as good as new!
