How To: DIY Paddle Shifters for Sim Racing wheel

Hi guys, this video is a guide on how to make a spring paddle shifters for your custom sim-racing wheel.

- 4x M3 25mm screws
- 4x M3 8mm screws
- (optional) 2x M3 6mm screw

- 10x M3 washers
- 2x M2 7mm screw

- 6x M2 washers

Great video and i am about to go down the rabbit hole of your videos lol. Also the fact you offer to send out for free and just postage is an amazing gesture to people out there that are struggling at the moment, you seem a really nice guy and that is getting rare unfortunately. I have my Ender 3 3d printer and it is a cheap one but Wow is all i can say. does a great job for the price i paid which was £150 from Banggood. Really hoping the STL files are available on your videos as i can see my building a lot of your designs due to how well designed they look. Sub extremely well earned 👏

Well, I dig the magnet shifters on my rim from 3drap. Contrary to the original spring loaded shifters on my former Thrustmaster rim, I practically eliminated all misshifts. I think the paddles' travel is the key. I adjusted the microswitches in my paddles so they get activated as soon as the paddles get pulled off their magnets. So in the end I worked around the "regressive" resistance by keeping the travel as short as possible. Also I glued in small felt strips to dampen the noise, which magnetic paddles produce a shitload of. :)

Nice idea, especially with regards to control the 'bite' point, I have an idea running in my head to do a 2-magnet paddles (up and down as per who'sthisguythinkheis?'s suggestion) and use a hall sensor with potentiometer to have a fully customizable travel, just a concept but I'm excited to start working on it.

That's a really good video, I've made my own shifters too, magnetic but adjustable as I didn't like the regressive feel either, I also hate looseness so I ball raced the hinge, 3d printed look but the feel of high end👍

You can use this alongside magnets and that would feel really great

@@petermakesthings7342 oh that would be really cool to see! the regressive feel you dislike can also be reduced by using 3 magnets, two the same as is shown here and one pushing away where the switch is located to provide the return force. It is more simple to produce and I think magnets just makes it feel a little snappier in my opinion but i'm interested to see what you come up with.

Have you tried the springs at the bottom and magnets at the top Maybe it will be a little bit more satisfying?

nice video! i dont know how to wire my shifters to the arduino . I dont have the cablest with those connectors, i use normal wires.
