Thank you for the helpful instructions.. they are so helpful. Question: why is the stitch lock button always on?

While the button is lit, it is not always activated - you have to press it and it will flash to show you that it will stick several locking stitches. There are some stitches that automatically start with a locking stitch so perhaps this is why it is "on".

Does what you have shown us on the M7 differ much if the machine used is the MC9400? Do the same principles apply? I am using the blanket stitch to appliqué and I was researching how to improve my results as I’m not confident with the process. Thanks for reading my question.

It is similar as there is also a blanket stitch on many of the Janome sewing machines.

Question: what if you want your stitches to form on the left to the right? Is this allowed

You could try mirroring the stitches to see if this would work. I've never tried to do this but now will have to investigate further...

I have a question. When I use a different color thread in the bobbin that thread shows on the front of my project. What am I doing wrong?

It's difficult to to not have any bobbin thread showing on the front of your project but you can minimize this by adjusting your top tension. Check out my video on fixing thread tension for information on this at kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fqiSnLdy1N_bmY0.html
