You had me laughing so hard, I had to stop the video! Arne: It’s not rocket science. Carlos: No, it’s knitting. Lol! I knit every day so I would knit a lace scarf for a friend who is a nurse in critical care. I taught her to knit and, twice a month, I get to watch her pet each and every stitch as she knits. She literally loves each stitch she makes. She is in her 40’s, her daughter died young with a condition where her ribs surrounded her heart and squeezed it. No cure. My friend has attempted to knit this lace scarf several times without success. My love language is service, so knitting the scarf will show my love for her and then give her the needles. 💗

What a life-changing concept about adding yarn when you run out with the long tail cast-on! I have been knitting for 55 years and redone it countless times...cursing under my breath. I was taught by my mother who was a relentless perfectionist about everything and anything and although I love knitting you have made it much more enjoyable in the short time I have come upon your videos. I would knit one of your colorwork sweaters for my husband. Then amazingly, as he has not worn anything patterned or multi-colored since I have known him, a mere 28 years, -- I might wear it! I would also share the needles with my work colleague who I encouraged to knit and is an excellent knitter in record time. I look forward to your videos weekly and enjoy them on many levels. They are very inspirational and also good fun - my favorite was your "glamping adventure" -- it once took numerous people to extract me from a kayak and fortunately it is not on film.

I have never seen this and I have been knitting since I was a kid and only found other cast ons a few years ago. I have always used long tail cast on and there have been so many times when I was cursing not having a long enough tail (or a way too long tail)

My Danish 88 year old mom is fond of knitting cancer treatment hats for our children's hospital. She has done hundreds since Dad died a few years ago. She taught me to knit and I have been enjoying making socks. We like to see your videos and we laugh with you as you demonstrate helpful tips. Our winter is long and I so loved your lanterns resting in the snow alcoves. Best wishes to you both and much appreciation, Paula and Norma

Well I lost my best friend 😭 of 25yrs 10-02-19, we use to face time and crochet together, (cause she didn't know how to knit.) She only knew the ripple stitching and made only one blanket for a baby, but she would always pull out the one we face time with to work on, well when I got to finally see it Lol! It was wider and longer than a king size bed, we had a great laugh! If I was to win I would knit a mini pair of socks every Christmas and start a Garland in her honer cause she always had cold feet. Thank you for the chance to win!

I've just taught myself to knit the Norwegian way from watching your videos. My 87 year old Mother was recently visiting and I got her hooked on your videos as well. She insisted I set up her iPad so she could watch you all the time and wants to learn the Norwegian way as well. ! I would gift the needles to her so she can knit along with you in comfort. I'm planning to knit a Setesdahl sweater. My Grandmother had one that is beautiful and has been passed down to my niece. I would love to have one myself. As you say, it's not rocket science!

tip : I take My yarn and just wrap it around my needle - like a spiral - as many times as I need stitches - so if I need to cast on 84 st I wrap 84 times- and then placing my finger a little further down the yarn I double up the yarn and make a slip knot where my fingers were so I have the 2 treads for casting on :-) hope that made Sense

Thanks for another great video! Long-tail cast on is my favorite, but I never thought of taking the yarn from the middle if I ran out. Great tip! Would love to win the Prym needles, as I find as I get older my hands start to bother me if I knit too long. I am planning on knitting a shawl for an elderly, rather proper and formal friend. And I thought, a shawl for a “PRIM and PROPER” lady needs to be made with “PRYM” needles!

Arne and Carlos, you taught me how to knit, 100%. I am a life long left-handed crocheter who can finally knit! You also showed me a new way to join granny squares which I used. And I love both of your voices, but I hear Arne in my head every single time I purl, "dis is da dancing." It makes me smile. I would cast on finger-less gloves first. My creative project is to design a Celtic wrap I will gift the Prym’s needles to my friend Kat as I plan to teach her to knit. Kat wants to knit for her family members. Also to teach her young daughter to knit so they can share their knitting experiences together throughout the years. Okay, this is not likely to make you laugh but I have several projects in mind. 1. My friend, Joan- she donates plasma and says she gets cold while doing so. Even though the facility offers $100 per session (2x/mo) she never takes it. She is one of the most selfless people I have ever met. 2. My sister, Molly- I was adopted out when I was young and we have never met as we have different mothers (mine passed away). We found each other 2 years ago (after 48 years). I'm making her something blue (her favorite colour). Note: it was fun finding someone with the same warped sense of humour as myself. We totally grok each other. It must be genetic. 3. Last but not least, my youngest son, AKA The Frog. He also possesses said warped sense of humour. This year he is getting either a hat with Santa skulls on it or socks with skulls. Depends on what yarn I have available at the time. So, there it is. My Christmas projects. In passing I want to thank you guys for the joy you bring in your videos. It brings much pleasure watching. Have a blessed day.

Hello from Longmont, CO! I am so glad I got the chance to meet you both at your talk here and to chat with you about Nord Aurdal where my great-grandparents came from in the 1870s. You two had us all in "stitches," pun intended, with your humor and joy. Thank you for taking the time to come all the way to CO. Glad you got to hear some elk bugling in the Rockies. I am still figuring out circular needles but I'm about to start a brioche cowl with a branching tree design. Wish me luck and come back to Longmont one day! I’ve been lusting after these needles since I first saw them a few months ago. I enjoy doing prayer shawls and or scarfs, so that’s probably what I’ll plan on creating. My godmother deserves a special gift and what’s more special than a gift created by hand...especially my hands. I love your relaxed attitude about knitting. You are both an inspiration to me to try more challenging projects and to NOT stress about minor errors in my knitting. Thanks, guys. I learned long-tail cast-on about 60 years ago as a child and always use it (except for provisional cast-on situations or adding stitches in the midst of a project. I am always amazed at the number of people who cannot do long-tail and will not even try it. It is by far the fastest cast on method for large numbers of stitches. Right now I am making slippers from your felted slippers book for a family gathering in late November (Thanksgiving holiday in the US). I hope to have slippers made for everyone - and of course, I start them all with a long-tail cast on.

How lovely! I have used the long tail cast on forever.......and I'm old! I have always wrapped the yarn around the needle and then multiplied to get enough yarn, but your method of joining from the inside or outside is so much easier!! I have learned from you how to start without using a slip knot, thanks boys.....you can teach an old dog new tricks! And speaking of old dogs, my girl just turned 13 and needs a new sweater.

Well because of you guys I have learned to knit "Norwegian". Our local yarn shop told me that I cannot get a good tension with Norwegian knitting. Since I started about 5th grade with crocheting I wanted to keep the yarn in my left hand. It has worked well for me. It has really helped my knitting go smoother. I now find rib is so much easier to do. I like learning something new with everything I make. I need to learn how to make a hat. So I would cast on a hat for myself. I don't have anything funny to say. I just do enjoy watching you both. Love the holiday videos. To see how you decorate so creatively. Have safe travels. Love the tip for adding the yarn tail to the cast on. Always so clever! I knit regularly for the homeless in our community. It’s a cold environment here in Newfoundland so I’ve been knitting wool socks, scarves, hats, and donating regularly to a homeless shelter for several years. Given the needle sizes, I’d probably use for scarf and hat, maybe mitts or wrist & hand warmers too. Always try to have an extra batch to pass along - filled with goodies - at Christmastime. If you can manage it, another much appreciated giveaway would be sock yarn, or any kind of wool.

My son says it’s like listening to “knitting chipmunks” and it drives him crazy if he wants to watch with me. My son, who is 13 years old has just learned to knit and I think these would be a wonderful Christmas gift.

The possibilities are endless... I think I would have to knit one of the Arne and Carlos Sweaters. I've never knit with white needles, but I can see how the stitches would stand out with white as the background. I spend part of my time in California - wish I was going to be there to meet you. Have a great trip and thanks for another video! Margaret O'Brien

I always started the long tail from a slip knot because that's the way the books I had showed it. But then in an earlier video I saw Arne do it like he showed here, tried it, and like the way it looks much better. So,thanks Arne! I always have to watch your videos at least twice because there is so much to see and learn from them!

I would knit or crochet a garment or toy for my two sons. Every week they sit and watch your video with me and love the fact that (sorry Arne), one of them is called Carlos like you. They both love choosing yarn for me to make their next project and love telling everyone that I made their hat, jumper etc. It is so lovely when something you make is really appreciated. Recently when in a book shop (craft section) my younger son (4) shouted "It's Arne and Carlos" which had a few people looking around but sadly it was only a picture of you on a book cover.

WOW! How kind. What a beautiful set! I would use them to pay it forward to those in need. I knit, crochet for sick adults, children. I also make pet beds. Getting older, it’s getting very difficult to do so. My hands and eyes are just not the same. My mind is 24 but my hands and eyes are way over 60+. 😉. Age is all a state of mind but I wish they knew that too lol. Tyvm for this kind offer and as always, wishing you both an amazing new week!

Currently I am a crocheter, but would love to learn to knit. I watch your videos, but, alas, I have no knitting needles to try it for real. 😕 I have a niece in college who is like a daughter to me and I found a beautiful slouch hat that I would love to knit for her. She is doing a study abroad in Luxembourg in January and a warm toasty hat would be perfect to take along. I also experience pain in my hands so these needles look perfect. I love watching your videos and especially the garden tours. 🌻🌼🌹 My garden is also a big inspiration to me. Keep up the awesome work you do. The 2 of you always bring rays of sunshine in the room. ☀️☀️☀️ I hope I win the beautiful set of needles to be able to add a whole new skill set to what I currently know. Thanks Arne and Carlos!

Hi Arne and Carlos, just a few hours ago I gave a friend a little book of baby Knits titled, “what to knit when your expecting”. I told her to pick out five items she would like me to knit for little PJ. She may get three over time. Then I will cast on one of the smaller shawls I am planning on knitting for myself. I crochet and learned to knit through KZfaq’s many generous instructors including the 2 of you 😉 I just completed a top from the same book for my co-worker’s newborn and it came out so nice. That was my first completed garment! I am working on a knit tee for myself also. Very frustrating but I will carry on to completion!! I get so much more pleasure seeing something I created being used. There really is great happiness in giving to others 💕 I saw you demonstrate these Prym needles when they came out. I would love to have this set of needles to create lovely thinks with for myself and others. You can never have to many needles! Thank you Arne and Carlos for sharing such a lovely gift. Liz U.

So here it goes. My husband has been watching me knit for over 20 years and one day he got a bee in his bonnet about how much he would love for me to make him a fisherman's cable knit sweater. So I gave in and spent the money for the wool and spent a year making this beautiful sweater. I finished it by Christmas and gave it to him for a Christmas present. He said it was beautiful and promptly folded it up and put it away and has never worn it. So if I am chosen to receive these needles I would cast on a sweater for my daughter who always loves what I make for her and wears them often. Thank you Arne & Carlos for a fun giveaway.

Oooo that rounded tip is just what I need for knitting this lace shawlette I've been battling for months now lol! The yarn is the smoothest, softest yarn ever but.... it shoots off the tips so I'm super ultra tight on this project and it's slow going! After I completed the beautiful devil shawlette I would gift the needles to my dear friend who loves to knit but has carpal tunnel. I'm glad that you showed us how to do the easy long tail cast on. Just a note. I was taught that wrapping the yarn you are using around the needle you are using 10 times, then pull that amount off 4 times for 40 stitches or 10 times for 100 stitches, etc. It's always worked for me. Love your work and good luck to everyone.

Even if I do not win the Pyrm needles I have already won because in 51 years of knitting I have never learned your neat little trick to tie on the other end of the yarn. Thank you for saving me from having to cast on a second or third time. I offered to knit my youngest son something and he said I could knit him anything but a Willie Warmer. So I think I shall knit him a nice scarf and these needles will help keep my fingertips from getting sore! First of all, thank you for the tip about adding to the tail. I have always just started over (sometimes several times). The first time I taught my friend to cast on for cowl I made her start over when she didn't have a long enough tail. She stills teases me about "undoing" her hard work! I've enjoyed your videos so much and have even started making the Anja scarf after watching the beginner crochet lessons. I would definitely use the needles to knit a sweater for my partner. I've been afraid to because there is a saying: "Never knit your boyfriend a sweater". But I think it's time since we have been together for over 11 years! Hopefully, the sweater won't change that! I would even share the needles with my friend since teaching her and seeing her excitement at learning has reinvigorated my love of knitting! Thanks for all your help!

Tie a knot and keep going?? Mind blown!! I have spent a lot of time re-doing my long tail cast on all these years and all I needed was a knot?! May as well have been rocket science!! 🤣Now my hands hurt (I have arthritis in both wrists and thumbs and am self-diagnosing that it may have been caused by so many long tail cast on re-dos!) and those Prym needles will be helpful when I cast on the tbd sweater I am knitting for my husband!
