Not to debase...but SEO on Etsy is not this complicated, and not even the 'art' everyone makes it out to be. To begin there's no such thing as page 1 rank - everyone will see something different. Also, those people aren't bestsellers because they have long or short titles, repeat vs no repeat tags; they're bestsellers because they sell, and that gives them great Listing Quality Scores. That score plus great photos, regular feedback, competitive shipping and gift wrap service are keeping them visible. All of that is more powerful now than the where/when/what of your keywords. As long as you have them in there at least once, that's all you need. Some listings rank for keywords they don't have at all. Etsy is starting to lean pretty heavily on personalised searches as well so no one can say 'I will rank well, I have great keywords!' Listen, you can have the best SEO in the world, if you don't get clicks and sales, it's useless. Sellers need to stop fretting about SEO and think about all those other more important elements.

Good tips. Etsy doesn’t really use your description as a way to find your listings. That’s mostly for google.

Hi! Thanks for watching! The first 160 characters in your description are what Google uses for their search results, and Etsy uses the listing description to help identify and classify what your product is, to help it appear in relevant searches. 🥰

No they do not use that to index your listing.

That used to be the case, but as of approx. I’ve been working quite a bit on Etsy SEO and now I’m getting less views than before…! I’m using my maximum ad budget (£25) and most days I get *zero* views which seems odd. Could my store be blocked or something making it not show up at all? I can’t figure out why I would be getting literally no views (even with dads) 🤔

Hi Veronica! Without looking at your store I can't say exactly what might be the issue, but it definitely seems like something could be wrong- are you spending money on the ads budget at all? Etsy should only charge you for the actual clicks to your listings, which means you should be getting at least some paid views if you're spending money on ads. You mentioned that you've been working on your Etsy SEO a lot lately and this could also be the reason for lower views- each time you make changes to your titles and tags, it does a bit of a 'reset' in the Etsy algorithm as the bots sort out the correct searches to show your listings in. It can take sometimes up to 4-6 weeks to get your listings classified in the algorithm and start getting organic traffic. I am wondering if you might be making too many changes so that it's keeping your listings in a sort of continual 'reset'. I do offer a few strategy calls each month if you want to walk through your shop together and see what might be happening, but I think you might also benefit from building out your SEO strategy and then leaving your listings alone for a few weeks to see if things improve. In regards to ads, if they aren't converting you might get better results from building a presence on Pinterest, but that does also take time.
