@@RosierConstruction ahhh right ill have to check that one out mate 👊💪 im dong a flemish dond wall for a mate i was just gonna build two skins 110mm and ties em together with wall ties and maby bond it in every 3rd or 5th courcs just to save time... do you think it would make any difference in strenght ? 🤔 have you done much monk bond before mate ? 🤔👊
@RosierConstruction
@RosierConstruction 2 ай бұрын
@@robbertdeboer7715 monk bond is rare but yes I have once or twice . As regards to Flemish if you want a space side on both sides, your idea would work, as you are not dependent on the length of your headers unless you take the time and measure each one you won’t get a fair face on both sides hope that helps buddy

great video mate, I will say there are so many variations of bonding. To my mind aslong as you dont have a ¾ up a window or corner it works.
@RosierConstruction
@RosierConstruction 8 ай бұрын
That’s an obvious error yes a 3/4 is a no no on reveal or corner on a cavity wall but if it’s a 9” wall or wider it’s acceptable to bond a junction or pier with a 3/4. You can also use a 3/4 in broken bond although I haven’t done that as an example on the video, glad you liked it though 👍🏻

Just laid out 780 pier with mirrored reveals, definitely work’s better with more headers! You don’t loose quarter bond any where on each course
@RosierConstruction
@RosierConstruction 7 ай бұрын
So am I right in thinking you mean header,closure header header stretcher closure header for me personally that doesn’t work aesthetically no law against it but not for me I’m afraid 👍🏻

@@RosierConstruction yeah, I know what you mean, just personal preference, I just prefer perps never no more than quarter bond away from each other on below and above courses 👍

A point regarding your mentioning of how old brickwork tends to have tight joints - they have tight joints because the bricks were more accurate. Im currently using bricks with as much as 5mm deviation in length, we have 10mm joints to allow manufacturors to get away with it. No proof of this, though it works out awfully well for them, doesnt it? Anyway, tight joints do look better, though you shouldnt be allergic to opening up if you absolutely have to. Good luck with the channel!

Thanks and I would say there probably is a fair bit of truth in what your saying, as I’ve used many bricks with massive differences but I personally will do whatever I can to avoid bigger joints just don’t like the look of big joints. Appreciate your message

Not sure you should go with 2 stretchers together in broken bond! Probably better with more headers in there to suite!
@RosierConstruction
@RosierConstruction 7 ай бұрын
In that given situation that I put together to make reveals work equal on each side you couldn’t use headers, 2 stretchers are totally legitimate and in some situations a stretcher and a 3/4 or a header and a 3/4 can also work
