Nancy S. Macario You will do just fine Nancy just one thing before taking oil filter off get a Phillips screwdriver make a hole @ bottom of oil filter let it drip for 5 minutes then take it off a bit less messy n while you put it back not so tight like he did, wash your hands so they won’t be slippery tight the oil filter by hand after you can’t then use the wrench but for 3/4 of a turn more ok sorry about your lost any questions please reach out ok

A couple things for beginners, when you first are draining the oil, remove the oil cap in the engine bay to create a smoother flow of oil to drain when you unscrew the bolt under the pan and when you are done with the oil change all together. Call a nearby auto zone or other auto parts store and ask if they will take the oil you just changed out. This way, you don’t have to have oil just sitting around in your garage.

It’s actually safe to add the entire 5 quarts of oil when doing this. Reason being, this generation accord with the 4 cylinder has a huge oil burning problem, you’ll burn a quart in 1,000 miles. So you’ll be at the normal level 😂

It runs fine but just curious if it helps due to high mileage, i also use seafoam in my gas tank every 1k miles to help, I even read you can out it in with the oil to help clean oit the gunk. Any advice would be appreciated!
@dial2fast
@dial2fast 4 ай бұрын
Always use the recommended oil that's for your car. Car manufacturers spend millions designing the engine to work with a specific oil. For you to switch to synthetic will not gain anything. The key with ALL cars is do the oil change every 5k miles with the recommended oil (hopefully you do this since it's new). Your engine will not build sludge and last a very long time.

I'm pretty sure there is an o-ring between the drain plug washer and the drain hole itself I could be wrong but idk that's my 2 cents

There is only one metal washer on that drain bolt. Same for all Honda.

You can tighten by hand but make sure it's very tight (by hand)

If you do the reset maintenance reminder steps you show in the video without changing the oil, would it reset to 100% if in fact it was not?
@youaregoingtolovethis
@youaregoingtolovethis 5 жыл бұрын
Yes it will still reset to 100% even with sane old oil in it. The car will think new oil has been added. Don’t know why you would want to do that but you definitely can.

Why wouldn't you punch a hole in the bottom of the filter to allow the oil to drain out nice and clean? And why wouldn't you add oil to the new filter, given its orientation?

@@dial2fast then you're just a mediocre "mechanic". I was willing to overlook you using a wrench to tighten the oil filter, but then I noticed not warming up the engine to get the oil warm, not removing the oil filler cap _before_ draining, not filling thug oil filter, the list goes on and on. You could stand to learn a few things, starting with humility.

Should I be using a synthetic blend or full synthetic?
@shobud7561
@shobud7561 5 жыл бұрын
This guy has no idea what oil to use , just look what he dumped in his engine... If this is your first or maybe the second oil change , then yes use the full synthetic ! If the engine has 50K or more on the regular 5W30 oil , i wouldn't change over to the synthetic ! If you do your just asking for oil leaks on the engine ! The synthetic oil WILL end up on the driveway....

@@shobud7561 haha there's no issue switching over to synthetic as long as the engine has been taken care of prior to the switch.
