Seven years in your shop, wow. I completed two and am on my third one since April when I opened the shop back up from the winter. I get sick of every car by the end. Thank God the first two turned out perfect. This last one had a sideswipe that I pushed out of the rear quarter. The skim coat of bondo sucked up the primer and swelled. Normally I lay primer on thinner and build it up slower to prevent that possibility, I laid it on heavy in one coat to save time. I know better but had not had it happen in a few years, that makes what happened worse. Not only did that screw up the paint job (only on the sideswipe) not all the other extensive work, again, thank you God. I had planned the job next to perfect and had used up all the paint on the job. Aggravation personified, ready to get paid, no, I am waiting on a pint of paint to redo what should have been perfect paint and bodywork. I totally understand the car repair lifestyle. If you don’t want to do body work there are plenty of other car things you could do with cars. Some of my older friends like me quit working on them years ago but wheel and deal them as they are. They might fix a few things but normally sell them as they found them and make a few bucks on each one. What hurts them the most is a bad buy making a harder sell rather than a paintwork disaster. Not as much money to be made on each car but much less pain and agony on a screw up. Keep your faith, you do good work Pete, time for that project to get done and leave your shop.

is there any way you could just guide coat lightly sand with a D.A.? wondering if that would find your dents..I feel like just looking I might just pass over things on accident..A guy like me needs as much help as I can get. be safe and be blessed

Material costs vrs 5 years ago. That's what's hurting the biz. There's days I feel like do not want to work on the 78 nova and just drive. But at the stage that it's at that would be a nightmare later down the road. Unfortunately I got to keep plugging. Shity weather next few days I might as well dive In. Front seat belt radio come out drop the headliner and see what needs attended to or put it back together. Then it's finished the rear passenger fender well area. Then jump on my doors. Having two extra sucks 🤣🤣🤣. Set goals that's all. I'm praying the sealer put on before October would be nice. GI🎸FD✊
