Lemme see you do all that in a slip being shared with another boat! We love our Yamaha, but it's like trying to steer a floating basketball at slow speeds in tight areas...

Back when I was a young single buck (mid 80's) I had a 19 ft Jet boat with a balanced and align bored Ford 460 V8 in an open stern that had been built to about 500 H.P....she would do about 80 MPH...she had a foot throttle just like a car and no "skeg", just the jet nozzle...to say she required a rather skilled driver at low speed was putting it mildly, but I was up to the task...not terribly user friendly but she was a blast, not to mention LOUD...I always had a cute girl in a bikini with me...ahh those were the days.

Please use "forward," "neutral," and "reverse." As there are no gears in the Yamaha jet drive when moving from forward to reverse the term "forward gear" or "reverse gear" do not apply. This is a small detail but people who don't know about the many advantages of a jet boat would benefit. The absence of gears reduces maintenance to near zero vs an I/O.

We purchased a brand new one a couple years ago. Horrible decision! If there is traffic at the boat launch you will be there all day!!! Totally uncontrollable especially competing against prop boats!!
