Thank you for doing this video. I used a piece of 2 x 2 wood and a hammer from under the boat and got them out that way, worked out well. Since getting my replacement parts from JBP over the winter and rebuilding them. I took the boat out last weekend and what a difference. So easy to install and lock, unlock and remove. Thanks JBP for helping make boating that much better!

Great advice. I had a clean out plug stuck on a 212SS . I finally got it out with the 2 x 4 method. Maintenance is the key Use mild abrasive on the tunnel and keep the plugs high and dry These can be a nightmare if neglected. Will , you said it right . I sucked up a 4 ft piece of rope last year and without the blow out plugs I would have been in trouble...my son has a small hand and was able to unwind the rope but it took an houri

Thank you for clearing out the confusion about lubrication.
@JetBoatPilot3 жыл бұрын
I don't think that all lubricants are a bad idea, but there are some lubricants that will cause the gasket to swell. Some do not. Choosing the right lube is critical and if done right could help the plug over time. For us, its easiest to recommend no lube, just fresh water rinse and let dry laying sideways across the opening.

Get video l. Do you know where I can get the spring for the latch assembly on the old style plugs. Or even just a part number. Thanks

The large central spring in the middle of the plug or the small spring inside the slide block?

I bought a old 2006 sx210 and the plugs are in there I am affed that the old owner may have glued or compost them in they wont more the boat has been on salt water should I just leve in or do you think id I use a car jack they will come out?
@JetBoatPilot10 ай бұрын
If they are epoxied in you may not get them out. It's best to have those plugs fully functional. If you suck up seaweed or other impediment these plugs can save your day. If you can't get them out and you ingest a clog you might have to call for a tow to get you back to the dock.

I have a horrible headache getting the old plug out and am getting ready to order a complete unit replacement. Through a lot of the videos I’ve seen, I noticed there was a comment about turning the unit. I did finally realize my plug did not turn. I have a 2012 Yamaha AR190 and have been told that the plug reinstall can be somewhat difficult. My question is, will the newer model plug work on my boat? If not, do you have a detailed video on reinserting the plug.
@JetBoatPilot3 ай бұрын
No we don't have a video showing how to reinsert it. And no you can't use the new twist style plug. But, if you remove and clean the port thoroughly with steel wool to remove buildup and scale, and also buy new plugs, the install of the plug is super easy (when new). The problem occurs when users fail to properly maintain their plugs. Over time they seize in the port and become difficult to remove or install. Best practice: remove after each use, rinse plug and port thoroughly, and do not reinstall the plug until you go back out next trip.

@@JetBoatPilot Bought the boat from a friend and it had not been removed for quite a while, because the said it was difficult to get back in. I have watched many videos about this problem and did have to resort to the “floor jack method”. Have cleaned, using steel wool and it looks pretty good. Also, installed new mats using your instructions and the 3M adhesive. Great workout getting the old removed. But, I’m pretty proud.j I might mention, I am a 79 year old grandmother who moved to Lake Hartwell, SC a few years ago and decided since I’m on the lake my grandkids needed a boat to play with when they visit. I love doing things that challenge me, and most women don’t try. I was married to a man for 30 years, who taught me a lot of DIY things. I do have a couple of questions. Should I use a light epoxy to anchor the bottom of the black sleeve back on? Is the cavity the assembly inserts into stainless (if so, thought I would give it a cleaning w/stainless cleaner, just to be sure)? What kind of lubricant would you recommend for inside the metal sleeve? Thanks so much for your help and informative videos. Plain language! 0

How would running over a rope cause damage to the seal on a clean out port? Any info would be helpful.
@JetBoatPilot2 жыл бұрын
Not sure it would, but a blowout could cause damage to a seal. Also failure to care for the plug could cause swelling over time.

I always recommend leaving them fully out until it's time to go boating. This way they don't seize over time.

Hopefully my comment doesn’t get lost, recently had an issue and had to pull my older style plugs (had to use a crowbar because they’ve never been taken out from former owners) and couldn’t get them back in. I’ve taken them both out and apart and gave them a good cleaning…. Any advice on if they still don’t go in all the way?

@@DiamondSplatter you cannot add it as an aftermarket add on. You have to have a 2017 or newer boat to install this type of plug due to the aluminum housing being different.

Hey love your videos bro, I have a question my 2004 ar230 yamaha is only going 15 to 20 miles dont know why
@JetBoatPilotКүн бұрын
@richardpacli could be a number of things. I'd check oil first. See if it's milky or if there's oil in your air filters. Then if not that check your impellers and wear rings. If not that replace fuel and spark plugs and test again. Finally make sure the boat is not full or water.
@richardpacliКүн бұрын
@@JetBoatPilot thanks buddy , the oil seems good a little milky , i haven’t check the air filters for oil yet! Doesn’t smoke or anything and starts right up.
