One of my favorite episodes helping me plan my workouts and still balancing jujitsu on top of working and being a college student.

I do both lifting and jiu jitsu I've been doing both for about 1.5 years now and I've learned to just listen to my body. Once I feel my performance dwindling then I just take a rest day or two ASAP. Your body can adapt to it and it's NOT weak at all imo.

I really appreciated this, since I started jiujitsu 3.5 years ago I’ve always really struggled to balance my lifting and now kick boxing, and just constantly getting burned out

Love hearing Dr. Mike talk about BJJ. His approach is great, there shouldn't be a specific greatest move or style everyone should do. It should be find the moves and style that fit your body's limitations and nature and run with it. Build around what the world gave ya.

I am only a baby blue belt but I’m in love with BJJ. I can only really lift weights 2-3x a week. Bjj is where I really push.
@Ingeb91 Жыл бұрын
I don't know about you, but I progress just fine with 3 lifting sessions a week. I feel like I could probably squeeze 2 or 3 sessions of martial arts per week, but I guess striking isn't quite as intense as rolling in terms of stress on joints and tendons.

I've been lifting and doing Judo for quite a while now (4+ years now I think), and personally I think it's more of BJJ, in general, is not super hard on the body. Anytime we do NeWaza in Judo, it's more of a sauna treatment and I get to sweat shit out. Whereas TachiWaza days, I'm so fucking beat up afterwards I need at least 1 rest day. But that's just me. I've always felt ground work is way less hard on the body where I still have enough energy to go lift the next day.
@IordanIovkov Жыл бұрын
Standup grappling kind of necessitates more effort; you're trying to move an entire person down to the ground. Also, that person can generate more force in order to resist you. I haven't done a lot of but I remember I was shocked how tiring it was.

I see why he chooses not to post as much as I like on bjj. I will say that Dr Mike’s video on weightlifting In jiujitsu is well worth the money. I’m putting muscle on with just two days a week lifting. It’s made me stronger on the mats.
