Hey Mark great info! Thanks! Just wondering how often do you recommend to put H2O2 in a tank?

Excellent! I just performed the treatment as per specifications to my 150L and 200L fish tanks and it appears to have some magical effects. I've noticed increased pearling from the plants afterwards and all fish are more active. The perscribed dosage was a little on the low side, as not a lot was happening. I then hit the tank after about 30-45 minutes with a syringe with another half dose in a more focused manner and thats when the real magic started. tons of bubbles from the stuff reacting! I think I'm going to make this part of my waterchange routine. Siphon water out, treat the lower volume of water, let it sit and refill. Possibly hit it with a small shot of fresh bacteria, too!

Everyday/everyotherday/everyweek dosing?

@@MarksShrimpTanks Worked out perfect. I have seen and heard many others talk about Peroxide treatment, but yours are clear and detailed. I 1st treated my Shrimp tank (54 L) and waited an hour to turn on the filter, so far every one including newly born shrimps are all doing well. I already saw some of the hair Algae detached and floating around the tank. I will wait a few days and see if it is needed to do another dose. Today I am doing my 200L tank. Many thanks for sharing with everyone this and other important steps to learn and improve our skills at aquarium and shrimp keeping. You are bettering the Hobby and making it more enjoyable and giving us a way out of frustrating situations.

Further to my last comment, I have done my other tank and all is well, except I realised that my RICCIA FLUITANS has dies in both tanks. No other plants or shrimps had an issue but maybe because of the RICCIA FLUITANS plant structure. So I don't recommend this treatment to tanks that contain this plant.

Hello Tracy, so far I have only done this in tanks where the shrimp look lethargic or in tanks where I had issues with string algae. I wouldnt do it all the time but I have done it in one tank 3 times within a week.

@@MarksShrimpTanks Thats good info too. My 40g rcs tank has had so many different issues with the worst and most recent being a bad bacterial bloom. Ive tried everything but to no avail. The funny thing is the shrimp are breeding like rabbits! Lol. I attribute most all of the issues on Black Diamond Blasting Sand substrate. I will never use it again. I dosed the H202 last night and noticed a slight change in behavior but I have a feeling I will need to do this more than once. I will wait 3 days and do it again. Marks Shrimp Tanks quality find mark. I am new to shrimp and your channel inspired me to give it a go, recently I thought I was doing something wrong and they would just hide and not eat but this h202 looks to have changed everything so massively greatful.

I think those devices are a gimmick, I understand how they work but they cant add more oxygen than is already there.

Well Mark if the device splits H2O into H2 and O then the O's will find eachother and form O2. It is the exact same thing that happens to H2O2 when it hits the nucleation pebble in the oxydators or any nucleation site in your tank.

try and get stainless steel wire for the catalysts, a fe of mine rusted away to nothing so it just shows you not all coat hangers are made from the same material.

Hello Sir, thank you and no you dont have to pull the filter just turn it off, you want the bacteria inside it to have a little protection for an hour until the h202 is spent :)

Hello Mark , I suggest you google this because I am sure the sap from tomatoes plants and leaves are toxic to shrimp.

I have been testing something for a while and this also works but might not be everyone's cup of tea....lights on for just 4 hours a day.

You just have to make sure it doesn't contain anything else, some of the pharmacy stuff is meant as a mouth wash too.

looks good to me, oral debridging agent just means its used to clean wounds which H202 does. if it only lists Hydrogen peroxide 3% on the back I would use it.

How many treatments to clear the green fungus? I have 2 poor shrimp with it now. I've started on the 1st dose today.

yes they do take a hit thats what I am saying in the video is you must add your own bacteria or bio film builder back in after the treatment:)

What do you mean "fogging". I have horrible BBA in my tank, i cant seem to get rid of it.

@@msack6904 Fogging is the act of targeting a specific place with chemicals, in this case H202. I used a medical syringe to do it with the filter off, then used the needle for deeper spots. EDIT: Also another side effect of burning dead and/or dying leaves, making the moss or plant look more vibrant and healthy

No that is the absolute wonderful thing about H202 there is no nasty stuff left after using it, once it oxidizes organics it splits into pure oxygen and pure water, what I do is just do my weekly water changes on time regardless of when I did the H202 Treatment.

Just do it everytime you see a problem with the tank. For me usually, just one treatment will do the job. Then i do a water change the next day and add new bacteria in. If the problem persist, do it again one week later. I've tried doing it twice a week, fish and shrimp seems to be fine but the snails didn't like it. They'll hide in their shell for 2-3 days after each treatment.

I only do it when I need to, but I have done it in the past before 3 days in a row.

Leave them in, I have 3 in one tank :)

I do it every now and again in every tank and I see a massive difference in the shrimp, you think to yourself yes they are healthy then try this treatment and see the difference. I think whats happening is it reduces the bad bacteria bioload and increases oxygen.

H2O2 is fairly good at removing cyanobacteria as well. A photosynthesizing bacteria that can be toxic over time if your fish and shrimps eat it. They usually won't on purpose, but it does mix in with other types of algae and gets eaten by mistake.

I’ve been using h2o2 for a while now and I can also say I see the jump in shrimp activity but I’ve also noticed it’s more like a temporary boost. I recently lost all of my shrimp in my tank due to what I believe is a fungus that is also effecting my ferns and devastated my S.Repens. I’m actually pretty sure it might have helped the shrimp survive longer and gave me enough time to fight off the fungus by manually removing it daily. It’s been nearly a 2 month long battle that is I hope finally commin to an end. Spot treatment with everything basically did nothing to what ever this was/is and I’ve found little info that related to my specific situation. But back to the topic at hand so far I’ve only seen good things from fairly regular use and I’m pretty sure like I said it was the only thing that some what held things off until I cld basically save my plants at least. I’m ordering my nxt batch of shrimp this weekend. Fingers crossed all is well now. Nano fish seem happier then ever and plants are looking good and ferns and s repens are bouncing back. Prolly just see if I can get some neos to breed and I’ll be thrilled after that battle.

@@stevenquigley9139 Was this fungus a whispy white gunk? If so it is a fungus but it is called white water mold, and it feeds off PVC and other plastics. You need light and strong UV light to help kill it off. Bleach, H2O2, doesn't seem to affect it, much. This guy, Dan Hiteshew had it growing in one of his quarantine tanks/filter. Nah they never seem to. I'm in the UK but convert a lot of US beer recipes for personnal consumption :)

You can go right down to a rice of grain size amount of bacterae per 60 liters of water every day, the dose on the bacterae tub is far to much.
