You should file and deburr that fitting

It is certainly recommended but not needed if you cut your line properly I've never had an issue with not deburring them

Gotta check those instructions! Some sets say you put it out to as much as the one of the sides thickness is! Good flare though idk I've seen some people crack the copper when making that second flare

I've always had luck doing it this way with the Copper lines they just FLARE so easily it's awesome and thanks, many more videos to come

@@MaritimerMechanic have a cheap loaner tool from autozone and the brake line keeps slipping in as I tighten. I guess that means I need to tighten it in the base more?

Yes it just needs ti be tightened more. Sometimes it can be a pain but also I find with cheap brake flare tools then don't hold on to the line very well

How do you keep the die straight when clamping down? It keeps leaning to one side no matter how straight I get it on.

When I have it leaning I take a file and file away some of the line till I can get it straight and if that doesn't work I would suggest a new die

Every time I do this the line will not stay. I’ve clamped them so hard I’ve ruined the tool and it still won’t flair it with the tool inserted in the line.

I've broken many flaring bars lol it's take some getting used to but normally I'll tighten the inside wing nut down tight then the outside and I haven't had too many issues now

Would the cheap set handle steel lines? Or it's rather only for copper lines?

@MrFrambooise well my cheap flare set has done many steel and copper lines without issues it's all about who is using the tool

You are correct it's easy to flare but also easy to crack it if flared incorrectly and also it is not silicone bronze it is a nickel/copper in other words considered NiCopp lines where I live. Which also defeats the use of a line bender.

Steel can always be removed to use nicopp line. I've used nicopp lines for gas and brake lines for years with no issues
