Can you download only from a specific sender? Also, do ypu need to download all attachments individually or do they automatically download with the email?

This was well presented and clear. I understood what you were saying and am now able to download from one of my Google Workspace emails. I next want to upload these to another profile in Google Workspace... I'm hoping this will be as easy as watching your video. Thank you.

Great! I’m using this to download all the emails I labeled in Gmail. So cool that you can select certain folders or labels instead of EVERYTHING!! The formatting issues isn’t exciting I’ll test it and see if I need that extension you mentioned. I’d rather skip that step. Can’t you download them as pdfs or something simple?

Sis, i have a question, why you upload video Evey Thursday only? I think uploading videos daily (you have potential to make quality content daily) or in alternative days would be better for channel.?

Great question! KZfaq is not my full-time job. I work a lot of hours and committing to one video per week is what I can manage right now. Very occasionally I will post two times a week - like a Tuesday and Thursday - but that's happened twice before and maybe will again two times this year. It's a lot of time and work to make this content and I love doing it so much. Hopefully, one day soon, it will be my full-time job and I can post even more! Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it!

After the initial download is there a way to only download NEW emails the next time and not have to download everything that was downloaded previously?

Hi Tasia - Great video. Many people don't talk about what you can do afterward. I need a different type of solution, I think. I have several gmail accounts and would like to switch to a different email that is more secure and more private. I have a LOT of emails to download on several accounts. After I download them, I'd like to still be able to access and search them as easily as I do in my gmail accounts, but I don't want to add them into another email account online where they would be less secure. How can I accomplish this? I use Apple computers and devices. Thank you for any info!

Hi Tasia - just discovered your channel and liked it very much. Just want to let you know, that there is no "download file" possibility in European Gmail accounts. Maybe it should be handled with a takeout ?

I'm not sure if you've figured out how to do this yet. If not, I was in the same boat as you. I just tried doing it today (06.23.2024) and I don't have the options at the top like this video does. The reason is because this video is 2 years old and they've apparently changed the look/layout at some point. So, I did some hunting and found a solution. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/md6hhLZel5eviIE.html Full disclosure: I didn't use this method as I found it after using another video but it sure seems like it will work...AND it's much fewer steps. If this doesn't work let me know and I'll get you to the video I used. Good luck!

I can follow you all the way until I enter my email address. When you say to go to the "tools", your screen is different than mine. Also, am I reading Thunderbird correctly when it says it can edit and delete my emails?

Thanks, this will be very useful. Google has started randomly requiring login "security" verification to my account, even when using the same computer I've used for years, and sometimes just a couple hours after logging out. I need a plan for what to do if Google "accidentally" locks me out of my account, smh. Do you have a video on how to upload Gmail data to a new Google account?

Hi Tasia. Thank you for the great video! I did everything that you instructed. But when I download the file it is showing up as a takeout file instead of an mbox file. When I try to import the takeout file, Thunderbird says that it is not an mbox file, and it won't import. What am I doing wrong? Thank you!

Outlook can’t open mbox files but I believe you can use thunderbird to convert to a compatible format for outlook.

Hey you skipped the part I need! Your instructions said you could skip the link with your email address. Put then I am at the home screen in Thunderbird and do not see tools to do the next step. Help!

Hi Tasla! Can you help me out on this. I tried opening large Mbox File like 13GB to 32GB unfortunately it does not open on thunderbird. It only creat subfolder on the Local Folder. I also tried open small mbox file just for checking and it opened. Hoping that you can help me with it. This were my back up emails in Gmails coz i had to delete to recover same space in my gmail. Thanks

Thanks Tasia. I went through the process of downloading messages from an old Gmail account last year....and was surprised to learn that I just couldn't import them into my new Gmail account! I had to access them via my Apple Mail. I think I would have gone crazy if I didn't have my MacBook! Is Thunderbird a local mail app, or is it also available online a la Gmail? Why wouldn't Google allow us to view messages downloaded from Gmail in another Gmail account??

What a process, eh? Thunderbird is an app and there is no web version. I think most people think they can download them and just open them on their computer easy peasy. Not quite so!

Why download all your emails? Can you download all your email from office 365 (I sometimes get this question from users)?

Some people want copies of their inbox if they want to then clear out space without losing the content forever. Others may want copies for legal reasons. There are a lot of reasons really. Yes, you can download emails from Office 365 using the export wizard.

I really do not understand! you open google support and make and you make a video on it! my 5ys son do it without your "tutorial". to be professional youshould provide an alternative solution without takeout tool. but seem to much for you
