In this video we’ll look at how Kim Jung Gi draws with a 5-point perspective, curvilinear or a fish eye perspective. By visualising the grid it becomes easier to to draw. It's important to start with a sketch mindset and focus on the big things first and then you can go to details. Keep an eye on the horizon line and know where the main vanishing points are.

Before all, thank you very much for your tutorials, they are motivating and very clear. It wold be interesting if you explain how to rotate and tilt objects in 5 points perspective, because, for some reason I cant find tutorials about rotating or tilting objects in perspectives different than 2 or 3 point.

I don’t know how Jung gi does this without any construction lines he doesn’t even draw the horizon line nor the perspective points. He just guesses it and it all just ends up lining up somehow

I looked at one of his classes with a translator and he mentions that he sat and studied scenes, people and tried to visualize the lines while observing his everyday life. He basically burned lines in his mind so he cld look at anything and mentally see the image and lines on his paper before he lays the pen down. He went on to say that with dedication anyone can do this.

Hi. If we were to draw 5-point perspective from the top as in a top view of a room the height follows the vertical guidelines of the centre right? Also the main issue that comes is understanding how much depth to give your objects.

Hi! Thank you so much for the video, very useful information. I’ve been struggling finding vanishing points on the drawing you did at the end of the video, I really get the concept but when the composition of the grid changes( i mean when the central vanishing point is not in the center or you know when all the others are not symmetrical or the horizon line is curved) I find really hard to get in which part of the grid we are working and therefore how should i structure my drawing. I don’t know if you still answer to comments in this video but I really have to ask if you could give me a hand on this one! Thx!

Regarding 5 point perspective, when drawing figures or characters. Compared to a normal perspective is there anything that separates them? Like a key note in drawing difference? I can't seem to pinpoint it. When taking pictures with a fisheye lens, the subject either becomes bigger or smaller compared to without the lens. But the subject itself doesn't seem to be warping to my naked eye.

Thank you for this video. I have a question: when you draw the objects of your room in five point perspective, are you moving your head up, down, to the right or to the left for describe all of them or are you focused in a point?
@thedrDraw

Good question. I’m looking everywhere to find where they stand in space. To keep it easy I use a few vanishing points. So it’s more about measuring in space.

@thedrDraw
@thedrDraw 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Fisheye makes objects rotate, twist and turn in extreme angles. Good observation. Have you ever looked through a fish eye lens?
@noahhunt8575
@noahhunt8575 2 жыл бұрын
@@thedrDraw kind of. I’ve had friends who love cameras. But I know that from looking at countless drawings like Kim Jung Gi’s works, and photos in fisheye, that things in the middle are closer and bigger and rounder, while things in the distance look really far and warped around the center. I like the analogy you used how fisheye perspective where it’s one point perspective but everything warps around the center. I will admit thought it’s hard to understand how much you need to curve the lines, because if you curve the lines too much the corners become really sharp towards the center. So I need to learn to curve lines less depending on how far it is from the center.
@thedrDraw
@thedrDraw 2 жыл бұрын
@@noahhunt8575 You mention something very important here and something I didn't cover here but I'd still like to share. Because what you say is true. Objects that are further away are less distorted. Thanks for sharing Noah! And it's definitely hard but if you keep practicing you'll eventually get it, and to be honest you don't need to be perfect at it, in the end we're just suggesting a perspective ;)
