Hello, Scott, I deeply appreciate your support, and I’m sorry you feel that way. These tutorials are not meant to teach basic Procreate features, since there are so many already available by other people that do a fantastic job. If you usually watch my videos, it happens that I tend to use these kind of little options so often (in this case it’s just a matter of double clicking the layer, choosing alpha lock in the pop up menu, and then double click it again and choose layer fill with any color you want), and I have showed and explained that in so many videos already, that I just don’t want to continue repeating myself. These videos are about the broad process of how I particularly use the brushes, and not so much about how to do specific little things in Procreate that have nothing to do with the way to use the brushes. You don’t need to set your sketch blue, as I explain in the video, I just do it because I like to ink over a blue sketch so I can see my lines better, you could just lower the opacity of your sketch or follow any other method you may prefer for that matter. If you place the paper texture on top of everything else like I show in the video and you set it to multiply you can see what happens by yourself: the paper texture will still be there but your layers below it will show through. Again, since setting a layer to multiply is a basic Procreate feature and has nothing to do with how to use my brushes, I don’t feel like repeating myself with the same details on every single video. I understand that if someone new to Procreate wants to learn how to use layer blending modes will take the time to look up that specific topic on KZfaq and they will find numerous and great tutorials that will help them. You’ll see that when something that is more directly related to how to do something that’s important to learn how to use my brushes, I do take my time to show and explain that in my videos (examples of this are my How to do Pixel Art tutorial, or my How to do Comic Panels, Balloons and SFX tutorial). Also if you don’t feel like looking for other tutorials and have any questions like this, you can just ask me in the comments and I’ll happily give you the answer. This way people who watches my videos frequently will not have to hear the same couple of things over and over.

I understand what your saying and i kinda feel the same BUT i also think that if you know the basic of digital art and drawing that it still can be followed to a end result with these short video's. On 1 side i love longer video's but the other side is that its asks more of you if you want to learn!!

Hey Anton, thank you so much! That’s the ink texture layer. If you check in the beginning of the video, I explain that I import two paper textures. The one called Noir Paper is a black paper texture, that’s why it looks black in the thumbnail. This layer set to Lighter Color mode will show its texture over anything black, like your inking line work, if you do it on a layer below the texture 😊 That gives a fantastic analog feel to digital inking

@@antonvf9619 no need to feel stupid! I realized after recording the video that since I imported the black one second after already importing the white paper texture on top, you couldn’t see it. I guess that makes it a bit more confusing. Sorry about that!
