That's one of the things I love about manga. The whole concept of body language can be exaggerated, and it still works. Of course, western comics also exaggerate, but to a much lesser extent (usually). I'd love to develop a style combining the best of both extremes. Fortunately, I've got your channel to help with that. Great Video! 👏👏👏👏

Those are all great tips. I am currently working on illustrations for the Little Mermaid, and right on the first page, the character is falling, and yet, her face stays peaceful and melancolic. Contrast between facial expressions and body language can work.

Thank you so much!! 😊 I agree. Contrast between facial expressions and body language can also give a lot of information about the scene and the character's feelings.

How many traits and aspects can i give to a character without making the others feel irrelevant? This is a problem with a lot of my characters. It's not that i gave them a Superman amount of powers but rather i gave them a lot of traits that make me feel like I'm making the same character. Of course i give them imperfections but even then, i feel like I'm making the same character just with a small changes like personality, design, backstories, what they are (human, robot or alien), etc. I kinda have trouble deciding who gets what because why would i want some background character able to do something that can easily be done by another character? What is their preferred mode of transportation, what weapons do they prefer, what their preferred strategies are, what flaw do i want them to overcome, etc. I always feel like is give way too many things like 2 characters

I personally like to give each character one main stand out trait: A trait that is completely unique to that character. Then, even if they have other traits, they are most known for that one major trait, and that becomes their focus point. In this way, all characters have a chance to get a spotlight, and every character feels unique. 😊

What kind of genre are your ideas about? (Eg. Slice of life, action, comedy etc). There are different ways you can begin the story based on the genre. In most cases, it can work to jump straight into the action, showing a battle scene or action packed moment. Or, if there is a lot of world building, it can be more effective to have a prologue instead. I recommend introducing the story through your character's daily life. If I feel stuck on writing the beginning, I find it easier to understand my character better first, and then I can understand how to start their story. 😊
