So many golfers would enjoy the game more if they were able to draw the driver from the tee and gain some more distance.
In this short video Chris Ryan shows you exactly what is required to achieve this, and more importantly, how to execute this.

Only way I can draw a driver is with a pencil on a paper, but even that will fade eventually.

Great video Chris, every golfer needs to learn this shot and have in their disposal during a game. It adds distance to your drives and helps you shape the ball better around doglegs. These keys you've shown us are perfect! Cheers, Troy.

This tip is superb, thanks Chris. I saw this video after searching for driver tips and hitting the club better after struggling with my driver. I started using this technique late summer until winter arrived 2021, and this tip totally transformed the way I hit my driver. I was hitting it further and straighter immediately. I now look forward to 2022 and having more success off the tee in competitions at my club. Thanks Chris, you're the best teacher and golf coach I have seen online.

Brilliant video. Best I’ve seen. One thing I found confusing is the term ‘open’ and ‘close’. Sometimes they are relative to the club path. Other times the target or even the swing path. I found it really helpful when you used the swing circle to illustrate what you meant by ‘closing’ your shoulder.

I can draw the ball but have to guard against overdoing it and not drawing the ball at all. I've figured out what's going on with my swing and your video is confirmation of the things I have to work on the next time out on the range. Thanks for putting this up very helpful.

I may be misunderstanding something, but I am a little confused: When you rotate your shoulders clockwise you describe this as "closing" them a little; but closing the club face (a little) is turning it anti-clockwise. Thus, open and closed means the opposite when applied to the shoulders as opposed to the club face?? However, this is just terminology, because it is very clear what you mean, and teach. Many thanks.

Photobombed by a pheasant! 😊 So, can you move the ball back in your stance so it is easier to come in to out? Other question - you used a normal backswing - you don’t need to start back inside the target line? Good vid, need a warm weather day to go try.
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you could love the ball back, but this would change attack angle and may change the flight to cause a loss of distance, but would certainly be an option. Backswing I would intend to keep the same 👍

My worst problem right now. A year or two ago my slice was nearly none existing. Straight shots nearly every time. Feeling of control. Now it has come back with lots of length lost, and I haven’t the slightest idea what I have changed in my swing. Close to give up the game when my drives are all over the place. What is the most important thing you can pinpoint and which I could change? Ps. When standing at the range my shots are mostly straight, but on the course it’s a complete different thing.

Ok so instead of turning my whole body right of the path(right hand player). What you do is line up in the path line and turn the shoulders slightly right of the pathline. I think i like this better

This is interesting and different. Many instructors teach for right handers. Turn your whole body to the right of the target line. And twist the club face in your hands closed to the path but open to the target line to hit the draw. What are your thoughts on this sir

Hi, I’ve got a problem with my driver. And basically I used to be really good with it. My height was perfect, flight was perfect, everything was good. But I went to my regular practice and I was just thinning every one of my shots with my driver. I did everything like hang my head back and hit up on the ball. I tried adjusting the loft and nothing would work. So I was wondering if you could help me on this please. Thank you, Jack Kubaitis!

The problem is when I drop the club to a shallower plane from the top, the clubface falls open, as yours does at 5:34 on this video on the way down, whereas I believe the clubface should be similar to the spine angle. But yours is not at this point in the demonstration.

That is so blatantly not correct that millions of golfers break their clubs in frustration trying to hit draws like that. Sounds like it will draw the ball but it does not. What is more likely to happen is that you hit a high block to the righ especiallt if yoi tee the ball up. If you move the ball forward then you will get a hook or pull left not a draw. The thing is that you can maybe hit a draw but you don't really know how you're doing it.
