I remember struggling with the Canvas and world space when I first started learning Unity, if only there was a video like this when I first started.

Heh, this video does NOT show you how to draw a line between 2 UI objects. It literally only shows you how to set a canvas to world space. Yes, you could then use a line renderer inside canvas objects, but UI space is still very different from world space, and you can't easily convert it since UI space goes into the negatives once you're at 0, 0 going left/down

I would hate to be misleading, but I have been getting this feedback quite a lot recently. To me if you use this as a part 2 to my line drawing video then by the end you can draw a line between two ui elements, but it is clearly not that so I apologize. I'll try and do better in future

So how is it done if the line should not be in the root of the ui? Can it have its own canvas as a parent even if it would be a canvas in a canvas?

If I understand you correctly you can place the line as a child of an empty game object that is itself a child of the canvas to keep things better organised

You are right, I wouldn't recommend this anymore but as a quick and dirty trick for smaller projects I still think it can be useful

Are these comments written by robots? There's no way anyone would be satisfied by this tutorial, it's telling you absolutely nothing the title says, and the description straight up lies. Reported as misleading.

I would love to fix this. I have seen a lot of mixed feedback on this as some people find it misleading and others find it helped. With this many people finding it misleading though I definitely have a problem I want to address. What about it doesn't work for you? Especially a lie in the description, I genuinely don't see one but if you can point it out I will fix it immediately as I would hate for one to be there

Actually I may have just got it, while we are drawing a line between two UI points, the line itself isn't on the UI. Would clarifying that help? This video is from a long time ago now and while I don't agree with this method anymore, I think for a quick and dirty way to draw such a line in a small project it gets the job done

The lie in the description is, I'll just copy-paste it: "At the end of this video you will be able to draw a line between two items in a UI" There is not a single line drawn in the entire video, you don't even talk about it, except in the intro. You just change the scaling of a canvas.

@@jackbot1992 Thank you for the honestly. I'm not trolling at all I take trying to help people very seriously and am very keen to fix the mistake. I made an assumption that everyone watching this video would have seen part 1, in hindsight this was a mistake. I will do my best to make it clearer
