As a 31-32 year Old Gay Goth/Metalhead Male with a more minimal look this was very interesting. It take me back to the early 2010’s Minimalist Dark trends that started trending around that time, but with more contemporary silhouette’s.

I feel like this was made for me! Im a soft dramatic with natural essence but i like dark styles. I intuitively always felt like i needed to add one natural material or brownish element to my otherwise all black gothy outfit ever since i was a teenager to soften it and make it mesh with me. Now i understand why. I used to describe my style as gothic hippie or just witchy, but now its more specific and refined. I use a bit more structure than that but still mostly flowy. I instantly know now whether a piece is "me" or not. Ive always felt like me with messy hair and smudgy makeup and there have been seasons where this was not in style and i felt bad about myself but now i see my essence and style as something eternal and unique to me, independent of trend cycles.

as an ingenue-gamine mix im so excited about this. the kibbe style examples were sooooo disappointing when i identified as a soft natural. now i just do my bold lips or a really goth eye and no eyebrows with grey lined lips. Also i wanted to scream when i saw Mia goth as she is one of my biggest inspirations especially her look in X!!!!!!!

Having a natural essence could explain why even being a soft summer i still look good with some soft autumn colors on my makeup? Because of the earthy qualities etc 🤔

This is really helpful. I'm a natural in kibbe body lines and in essence, and I've always wished I was more romantic or ethereal , those always seemed to be the goth ideals but I look like an impostor when I try to dress like them. Especially as I get older and my body is more cylinder shaped than hourglass shaped. What looks best on me and what feels the most comfortable is more simple and casual. I wear a lot of dark basics (black jeans, boots, sweaters), in hot weather it hints at dark boho or dark hippie because it's all natural fibers and loose fitting.

I'm a gamine and am pretty sure I have some natural essence as well. I love your recommendations here and I noticed I already have quite a few of them in my wardrobe such as vintage fur, custom made distressed leather jacket, flowy witchy silhouettes, or crushed velvet. A lot of the other natural vids I've come across gave recommendations that while they could look good on me, they always felt a bit bland for me or lacking something or not dark enough.

I came across one of your TikTok’s presenting dark essences and it’s like my brain went 💡!!! Like the way you are subconsciously looking for something that doesn’t have a specific name,I finally found what I’ve beeeeeeeeen looking for. I started exploring my aesthetics and things that I like but the most prevalent one was this dark aesthetic but I could never put my finger on what I should do and how to go about it. Im rather “cute” looking I guess and I think I might be a gamine or ingenue and I genuinely used to think yeah dark aesthetics just don’t look good on me because I didn’t know how to make it work with my features.Heavy black or darkish makeup makes me look absolutely crazy ,tired and goofy 😭. I'm a Soft Natural body type and I watched your video with keen interest. My facial essences are Natural, perhaps with some Ingenue and either Classic or Ethereal. (One of these days I plan to purchase your facial essence id service so I'll be sure of my facial essences.) Your suggestion to pick one feature to highlight with makeup resonates with me. I love to highlight my lips/mouth with a fresh coral or clear red gloss, colours that are in harmony with my warm seasonal palette. I then cover under eye circles and skin imperfections with concealer, fill in my sparse light brows a bit, curl my eyelashes and use a brown mascara on them, brush on a bit of coral blush and some subtle highlighter here and there. I cannot pull off black lip gloss, black eyebrows, or even a dark smokey eye but I do appreciate seeing them on your videos.

Oh my goodness… I think this is me! I never could figure out what my style is really - I never really thought anything about my style was *interesting* bc my features are pale, light, blonde, no real sharpness or interest - hair just flows ok-ish how it wants - I’m “beachy” or “boho” I guess I would have said - but I transform myself depending on if it’s casual or dressed up - but I literally follow all your fashion strategies for this natural look; I look good in mismatched patterns (people are always surprised how I can piece a different outfit together with odd patterns); I love natural jewelry; I literally have had a torn-ish black and green mesh ‘sweater’ that looks like I made it from moss; I love nubby linen! I usually resign myself to just a bold lip and thought maybe I was doing the rest of my face a disservice bc without makeup, the rest of my features are invisible really - but now I know “it’s a look!” Maybe? I always wanted to be “edgy” but I just don’t have “those features” - however, every Halloween, I dress up as a “real-life” witch by just amping up a few items together from my real everyday clothes… and I look like a nature witch quite easily - and I fluff my hair messy like I just don’t care - some reason I do have striped knee high socks, don’t know why - just seams to come *natural* No idea why I feel so validated… but this was a cool video to learn about with I different POV than other of these kinds of videos - I’m going to look at more bc I love different people’s esthetics and see it portrayed in unique ways

Love these dark vids. I think capes & caplets in a flowy knit material or sheer is so fun for this aesthetic especially black sheer and even with lace if the person has that romantic essence too.

Yeessss!! Oh thank you this has been so fun and informative and inspiring! You have such creative and interesting ideas. I think I have natural essence, but perhaps with a bit of dramatic. I love to dress in dark aesthetics, and often go for 90s minimal, textures, mesh layers. It's true that if I wear something structured, it must also somehow be soft and almost falling away. I find that less is more and an "undone" look really works well . Ripped up tights can work, trashed boots, ripped jeans.

This guide is so evocative and gorgeous! I have to mention something though: Kitchener has typed clients w/ all 7 essences before. I think the "up to 3" thing started because Truth is Beauty (Kitchener-inspired system) uses that method, plus Gabrielle Arruda did a Kitchener vid advising DIYers to focus on their top 3.

Gabriette is who made me finally realize that I'm FN and not FG 😅 I'm 5'6.5 so in between the end of FG and start of FN height requirements. I showed my mom a picture of Gabriette on Pinterest and she said I looked like her ENTIRE face and body but brown 😂 I'm super grateful for your vids! I even bought the KVD lippie you mentioned on your tiktok vid, but I dot it on and blur it onto my lips and put Vaseline over it. It blows my mind.. you did a face reading on me and I’m a natural. Looking at this video everything you’ve listed is how I dress.. I wear musky perfumes.. unisex leather colognes.. everyone compliments my hair when I have it up in a messy bun. When I don’t try at all is when I get the most attention.. and I feel more at home.

One thing that annoys me about all these dressing codes is that they NEVER work in extremely cold climates like Finland where I live. We get up to -35 Celsius temperatures and NONE of these styles ever work for that weather.😢

Thanks a lot for this video. Amazing job! I would say I have natural essence with a blend of classic and some ethereal (what I see as a dramatic but much softer, not so in your face essence?) I always found it difficult to find my style. My friends tend to wear that frilly, girly gothic style and that somehow didn't suit me. Experimenting with essences has helped me a lot. flamboyant natural here .. I have said it before and I will say it again .. naturals will have to spend fortune on the clothes that will look good (and the universe help you if you have a whiff of a classic mixed in as well, then you are trully lost) .. we just have to "look effortless in anything we throw on" so the anything being thrown has to be nothing less than perfect - which is a rare and an expensive find or you have to make it yourself form luxury materials and be absolutely perfect about how you do the making .. just be a runway model and then even a juta bag will look good on you (and yeah, all of the clothes will be too short and not drapey enough, because naturals have a wider frame) .. like .. c´mon genetics - can I please please please be a petite soft gamine? .. :D

Refering to this whole philosophy I'm pretty sure I'm a natural (who always felt and wanted to be more gamine/romantic), and as an "alt girl" I always balance between more cute romantic goth styles, and goth hippie, and more witchy/nu-goth fashion. At heart I feel like my essence is more romantic and ingenue, but I think that my face and body don't really fit into that, and so even though I love cute girly (black) dresses I always feel a bit off in them. So I'm glad I stumbled upon this video, it's refreshing and inspiring :) it helped me to see myself in a bit of a different way in terms of my style
