This is the first step in learning to drift a Harley. You will have to start by learning to slide the rear into a corner or turn. More coming soon!

Facts. I was the best panic braker in my MSF and getting my license, but first real emergency braking situation I locked the rear up lie a noob. Thankfully I slid enough cars around to know how to handle a fishtail but damn is it scary without the knowledge.

forget to mention you have a 60 tooth sprocket that will pull you around like a tractor just by letting out the clutch. maybe not impossible but very sketchy with stock gearing on a sportster.
@richardwaldron222

Nah. Higher rev. Front break pressure. I do this on my stock HD xg750 much weaker Harley with a built. Drifting good on anything requires front breaking. That why his are inconsistent honestly what he is doing is a fancy powerslide pullout, just extended a bit.. more like a donuts. Your drift into and out of a turn.

@@richardwaldron222 when I do little skids on my Yamaha yz250f I just come into a corner, lock up the back wheel then release the break and the clutch at the same time.

I do this on my Dyna stock gearing with a belt along with wheelies and rolling burnouts. No matter what your setup is, its going to be sketchy, that's part of stunt riding and that's what makes it fun and difficult. You just have to commit, rev up the bike and drop the clutch as your off the rear brake, if you feather it, you will highside the bike when the rear regains traction suddenly, ask me how i know lol.
@JBSTUNTZ
@JBSTUNTZ 4 жыл бұрын
@@richardwaldron222 His gearing definitely helps big time, your 750 also has different gearing than a stock sportster and a different wheel base so regardless of power those are easier to drift cause its not as top heavy as sportys are. also real drifts you don't use the front brake on, if you have the front brake applied then it is considered a burnout and not a drift. if you get that back wheel speed high enough you won't need front brake which is why that gearing helps it's easier to keep that wheel speed high with a 60t. most guys that do donuts on harleys do not use the front brake unless they're doing a rolling burnout

But! Can you also drift in a right turn? :-) I would practise this in a 'figure of eight' situation. If you only train in one direction the other one will feel awkward and insecure.

It’s clutch first while holding the clutch get on the rear brake “hardish” so it will lock up. Keep the clutch in while it is locked up. When you get to about half way through the slide give it some gas then “pop” the clutch. By that I mean dump it.

@Crimson Idol been riding harleys for 32 years and building bikes for over 20 you can make just about any bike sound like a Harley by changing the exhaust or taking out the baffles of the stock exhaust. I have no problem with harleys just hate the tough guy image that most guys have because they own a Harley. In the long run its just a motorcycle I don't buy into the whole image thing in 32 years i never owned a Harley tee shirt ect.
