My husband HATES DIY with a passion. If I want anything done in our house I have to do it myself. I've watched so many of your videos and now I'm plumbing and tiling a utility room. NEVER done anything like this before. Now I've levelled the floor, installed underfloor heating, levelled again, and tiled all but the tricky ones. I'm tiling around radiator pipes today. Your videos have made SUCH a difference ... so here's a super thanks (below), go buy yourself a beer on me. Gilly x (p.s. super thanks comment disappeared - hope you got it)

Great job! I have drilled tons of pilot holes for toilet flanges where slight chips and imperfections don’t matter as much since they are under the toilet. I’m going to give this a trial before I move the shower head location from the Sheetrock ceiling to the tile wall.

These guide videos have helped given me the confidence to take on so many jobs myself and do them to a high standard. Thanks plumberparts.

Hi James, love your work. One thing I can’t get my head round is how to make it water tight after you’ve drilled? It seems we go overkill now using waterproof backing boards, then tanking and sealing the joints and fixings, only to drill dirty great holes through it all. Am I not understanding something? (Probably!)

Dude need your pearls of wisdom before I destroy porcelain tiles, to reduce the chance of a break or chip at the back of the tiles using a wetsaw its said to flip the tile and notch it 1inch for small tiles and 2 inches for larger tiles, flip the tile back over and cut as normal and hopefully cut with no issues, or is the problem the blade, I bought a cheapo wet tile cutter do you think the blade that came with is prob not that good I have seen cutting disks that cost more than I paid for this el cheapo. thoughts pls buddy or anyone thanks in advance Paul.

Tiles vary in density from standard ceramic through to porcelain. It takes considerably longer to drill through porcelain and the wear and tear on those hole cutters and drill bits, even when you take your time and regularly cool then off, is.... expensive. Same goes for actually cutting and shaping the tiles when you "whap em" on the walls/floor. Imagine how many holes you have to drill to fit a bathroom? Toilet pan and cistern, basin bolts, bath/shower screen, mirrors, loo roll holder, tooth brush holder, towel ladder/rad, towel ring etc etc..ad infinitum..... I hate porcs!!!!! Oh, and heaven hates ham. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/arKfirmcuN-nYKM.html

True that. At the end of the job when the customer brings out twenty extra boxes with bog roll holders, mirrors, toothbrush holder etc etc etc etc. " Ooo can you just put these up for me?" 15 mins per hole in grade 5 porcelain. That'll be an extra days money please luv!! Fanks
@loafersheffield

@Barrie Fayers I've made that mistake before and now I make it explicitly clear in the quote. The right to surcharge for porcelain tiles. It's not just drilling and fixing to the tiles but cutting "L" shapes, notches and so forth. Try scoring and snapping a thin slither off a 10mm thick x 500mm long porc! I have used a big clinker tiling jig for the last 7 or 8 years and 90% of the time it has served me well, but on porcs...forget it!
