@@FarisandLisa There comes a time in any renovation where we have to weigh the cost of doing something ourselves. I can and have mudded and finished off rooms before. BUT I am very slow and have to do many coats and even when I have done my best it takes me twice as long and half as good a job as a pro. Somethings it just makes sense for many reasons to let a pro handle it, your choice was a good one for quality purposes and it was also much more cost effective in the long run. Keep it up, it's going to be an amazing place when all done and you get to settle in. Thanks for sharing.

As a European drywall seems so weird. Always felt so flimsy, how you can punch right through it and such. Then again I guess it is quick (and relatively cheap).

Looks good, I’m curious why you did not insulate the garage? Also I’m not a big fan of pocket doors. Most people have problems with them down the road.

Thanks JB! We never planned on adding a heat or AC source in the garage to regulate the temperature with the insulation. Agree with the pocket doors and barn doors. We tried to limit to only where necessary.

As I'm a kind of stupid and I'm not from U.S., I've never heard of this thing: drywall. Does it replace masonry properly?

Not sure where you are from, but do you use plaster board? They are pretty much the same thing I think Geographically they are just named different. Could be completely wrong though.

The company I work for installs drywall and depending on width and thickness, sheets can cost anywhere from $15-23 each.

The cement board is not waterproof. Misconception of many diy'ers

Most are water durable/ water resistant whichever term you want to use. Some have waterproof cores. You will still need to apply a sheet membrane or liquid membrane before tiling. We will make sure to clarify that before we start the bathroom tiling.

There is a type of moisture resistant drywall. More expensive than regular board, for obvious reasons.
