The new diamond painting pen from Diamond Art Club now comes preloaded with diamond painting putty that feeds to the tip of the pen simply by twisting the tip, very slightly.
But every once in a while you may see a little bit of excess putty sitting on the top of a drill.
I've had this with pink wax using the old standard tip (the straw with the nylon and brass tip) and I just used a pair of sharp tipped tweezers to pick the wax off.
This method doesn't work so well with the new putty because it's very stringy.
It's a bit like trying to pick up soft chewing gum with tweezers.
But I've found a way to pick it off without tweezers and without the hassle of stringy putty.
Simply press the pen tip down hard on the excess putty.
The excess sticks to the putty in the pen and it lifts off.
Just remember to wipe around the tip of the pen afterwards to remove any excess around the tip so it doesn't stick to other drills when you place your next drill.
I've tried this quite a few times and it has worked every time.
I think my initial problem was that I was placing the drills too lightly, which caused the putty to get stringy and leave deposits.
I've found that pressing down harder when I place a drill works a lot better.
