So started using the RP after seeing this video. Super simple. Thanks John it's my go to now. Was just teaching it our Old Glory trip to a few of the guys they couldn't believe how easy it is. Thanks again.

Also called Crazy Alberto knot or Improved Albright knot. Also some say line should exit the side it goes into the loop, others say exit the opposite side.

I've never heard the RP knot called the Roy Rose knot, its called the John Collins knot after the person who came up with the knot while he was the deck boss on the RP / Royal Polaris.

Steve Nies , I completely agree with you sir. John Collins taught me that knot a few years ago. Roy is a great skipper, but he didn’t invent that knot.

Simple but effective - smoothest knot to get through the guides. I use it for 50 lb mono or less.

This knot is actually called the John Collins knot, not Roy Rose. When John showed how to tie his knot it had 5 turns up and 5 turns back. Also, the knot is set by giving the standing lines a jerk.

That would slip if using lighter flourocarbon, needs to have a half hitch and rizuto finish added to make it complete
