HOW TO EASILY WHIP YOUR CLIMBING ROPES

Whipping your rope is easy all you need is:
1. Nylon String
2. Something to grip and pull string with
3. Scissors, blade, or both
4. A heat source
Whipping your ropes is a good way to prolong its life by preventing frays or tears. You can also color code your ropes based off its purpose such as a climbing line, rigging or multipurpose. Once you do it to one rope you will want to do it to all of them after you realize how easy it is!!!

Never pull towards yourself with the Leatherman or any tool. Ideally you will use a pushing motion when setting the wrap within itself. When pulling, your tool may slip and a serious injury may occur. That is a safety tip from the old Ma Bell System safety training.

Cool beans. I learned this when I was a Boy Scout, 55 years ago. We had sisal rope & cotton twine.

Great video Bino. Ill need this procedure after I cut 10 feet or so out of my Yale XTC climbing rope to use for climbing Open DRS.

I whipped both ends of my new lanyard this morning. ➕ the 2 ends of my 2 climbing ropes which have a sewn eye on the other end. I use Dyna-glide throw line & I really like it. B4 that I had the red capillary throw line that I found easily would dig in on a tight crotch. However the red capillary works great to whip your line ends. The 1st six to seven wraps get very tight so your last 8 wraps u need to keep pressure on it but not too much. I had to take the 1st whip off cuz u couldn't pull the looped line through. 🤪 It has a red residue thats like a sticky wax which is nice when u heat it @ the end.
