Hello around 0:56 of the video you say that the eco-mode can be deactivated in the “individual” mode, that’s true, I have a C220 and it works exactly like you said, the problem is that I have also a C300 of the new restyling and when you set the individual mode the function to deactivate the start stop is no longer shown... is it hidden somewhere else?

Hi, I have a problem with my central display on an E220 CDI 2011. The pixels sometimes cause an obscured display of both sat nav and radio info. Just happened after leaving the car in the airport for 2 weeks whilst on vacation, Any ideas anyone? Couldn't have anything to do with the antenna could it?

It's not hard on the engine. It's slightly harder on the more robust starter. Over a lifetime, this can put strain on it. It does save 3-12% of fuel. (Nobody cares about that)

It should be on by default. Emissions but, strain on starter.

It may mean that the battery is low / close to the end of its life. The car computer saves energy by switching off the start stop feature. This happened to me recently. When I replaced the battery with the new one, the start stop started working again.

Go Vehicle settings, sport sport + eco... u have an option to costumise your own mode,by costumising u can disable it permanantly... i found this thing today accidentaly...

april i bought 2016 e350. 45k miles under warranty. eco didn't work or worked sporadically. mb service computer said 'bad battery'. they gave me new one, and it's ok now fyi.

I got new AGM battery and the ECO work again. After 6 months ECO never triggered , I dunno if is my battery is not strong enough or the ECO mode need a battery in 90% charge range in order to operate, so far this technology is a fail. And the weather here all year around is the same.

This is one of the WORST options I have ever had on a Mercedes. I will be backing up and it shuts off, I stop for one second at a stop sign it shuts off. My Mercedes C300 2017 is so disappointing. It's like having a controlling boyfriend that you are stuck with for 4 years. I should be able to turn off the Eco stop/start feature for good or until I feel like using it. BUT NOOO I have to remember to turn it off every time I get in the car or change driving modes. I could go on for hours but I will spare you.

Don't you have an individual drive mode? Can't set this function automatically off in that mode? Even if the answer for those 2 questions are no, you must have a sport and sport+ mode, since you are driving a C300, can't you simply use those modes?

This is all about emission control standards set by US gov. and the world? All makes/models will be effected soon, if not already. No dealer/mfgr can be happy with the (I am sure,) considerable consumer (negative) feedback they are receiving about this feature; including me!

I have a 17 c300 and I never use eco stop. I discovered that having it in comfort mode the eco system is off even when I turn the car off and it remains in comfort mode even when I start the car. I hope this helps.

They told me at Mercedes, they have never had a starter failure due to regular use of ECO or anything else. SRS module and airbag failures are a different story. Dangerous

How do you turn it off permanently?? I have a 2017 GLS350D and we live in a semi-rural area. Everytime we get to the traffic lights in town the motor switches off and you get that moment of panic that the engine has stopped in a bad way and youll be stuck at the lights...getting a frieght like that at every blokdy set of traffic lights is stress inducing and its the most hated feature of this car that otherwise we love.

@Lin-ow7io when you jave a GLS and often switch between sports, comfort and individual mode yes its bloody annoying when the engine suddenly turns off and you're not expecting it. Everytime you switch modes it turns the e give on/off back on. We live in a rural area and have to go into city areas for work, school, grocery shopping etc. I tow a trailer with it often and comfort setting is too soft and laggy so I have to pick sports. Comfort is too unstable on some undulating country roads but great on city roads, sports mode works great when accelerating with the family or a trailer and fkr overtaking trucks/caravans etc on our country roads. That's why most of the time I'll drive in Individual mode with the sports steering and suspension and comfort engine settings. There is a noticeable difference in acceleration between sports mode and comfort and on a country road that can make a few hundred metres difference and time in the oncoming lane difference. So in short yes...for me I'd rather turn it off. Multi drops for school, the petrol station, shops...it resets everytime you turn the car back on and as soon as you stop the engine shuts off which gives everyone in the car a moment of panic because we don't know if it's a broken down car or not....then you remember the stupid switch and press it and presto....engine come back on and you take your heart out of your throat and back into your chest !!!

Xentry will let you code it to be permenatly off search for someone who codes Mercedes its just couple of clicks but it might cost a penny. You could also code better parktronic to beep before crashing the obsticel, turn off beeping for doors, seat-belt, also you can code second gear for Reverse & turn off the speed limit for reverse but can be dangerous if not careful you can flip the car. Also you can open AMG menu for temperature checks of the oil, antifreeze,gearbox. This just to name a few.@@olivedrabgarage6243

My GLA 250 ECO stopped working 2 weeks after delivery. Never again triggered ECO, which always ON (persistent) every time you turn the car on. Also persistent, fresh air for the A/C.

I know this video is about a year old. But I have to say this is an annoying feature. I was in Germany a few months ago and I had an E220 diesel and the ECO start/stop cause the car to have a rough start and stop.

Not a good feature!!!!!! The engine keeps turning off/on at the red light or stop sign makes people very nervous! Particularly, once you get jam in the traffic!!!!!! My wife really hate it!!!! I turn it off once driving in the city area. on freeway, I turn it on!!!! Still, this is not a good design!!!!!

It saves nothing its bullshit so Merc can quote better mpg, if you want it off just get the switch reversed via the ECU, it still defaults to on but on is off and unlike these people who can disable it for a fee and then reactivate it for another fee you can still use it simply by switching it off.

Who ever design this stupid function did not thinking how it effect on starting system performance. In the long run it will damage to starter and flywheel ring gear, fry up wiring to starter, few case been reports & recall. Starting system suppose to use couple time a day, excessive used will causing damage to flywheel that will cost over $5000 to remove engine to replace it. I hang a note on my rear view mirror remind drive to turn off A switch before drive.

I agree this feature is a greatly misunderstood feature. Many other consumers also don't understand or are confused about the new technology. With proper training any product specialist should be able to explain how the system works, how it differs from the traditional starter, and how system bares no impact on safety or reliability. No engineering degree required. It is the future of the automobile, fuel injectors received the same scrutiny when they were introduced to replace corroborators.

If you live in California, as I do where the gas $4.00 a gal it matters and I can tell the difference I traded my old Benz in and got C300/2019 and definitely noticed the difference. I'm commuting about 100 per day round trip on the extreme traffic of the California Freeways but only need to fill my car up once per week. So yeah I give a "crap" but FYI you are able to turn it off permanently by using the customization feature. I know reading the manual can be a pain in the butt, but it's helpful BENZ owners LOL

Stupid annoying feature, Mercedes Benz!, do something about it. I like to turn it off permanently , & be that way, but the car sounds stupid, when it can’t remember, it was turned off. Sales person didn’t tell me about this, even when i got the car. Instead he said try it for a week, you will like it. He didn’t mention it is impossible to turn it off permanently. Emission?? I didn’t forget about diesel engine scandal. Pleeeease It seems it s a cover up for non-efficient engines, to show less consumption. I wish after this amount of comments, Benz had something to say.

Het MB, wipe your ass with this feature. It sucks. Park the car, it stops the engine, place the car in 'park' the engine starts back up. It's a shit feature that might save a nickle in a year yet bring you $1k/ year in maintenance costs.

I replaced both my batteries, auxiliary and main batteries on my w212 e class with original Mercedes battery but my start and stop still not working. After driving it for 2 min instead the eco going green it actually just goes off, doesn’t even stay amber. Any one know what it can be?
