How to Edit A Protected Word Document Without Password
This is a very common issue if you work for a company, temp staff create a document and add a password to that document and then that person leave the company or contract ends. Then the company is left with a number of documents that are password protected and cannot be edited without a password. I will show you a quick work around for this issue.

I didn’t have “open with” when I right clicked. So I saved it as a pdf then converted it back to word and it worked. It maintained the formatting too which was a plus.

I have read another solution to this issue but as compare this you taught here in this video that solution which i read somewhere else is very completed, you gave us really simplest way to open and edit password protected word file.

i did exactly the same thing in wordpad, but it just got translated into a code of some weird symbols, cant translate them through a template...

Your document wasn't password protected against editing (like the one in this video), it was encrypted with a password to open the file. You can't use a simple method like this to access the file.

lots of people have this problem and i have it too after the windows 10 aniversary update my pc is sometimes stuck in the boot process with a circle spinning the only way i get past it is by hitting the reset button you must make a video for this

Open with NotePad. You need to know the symbols though.

Thanks Brian :-D Hmm it should of encripted it to make it non edit safe, passwording alone seems daft. I was thinking you were going to print to postscript or similar, wrong lol.

@Britec09 i encrypted some files with windows7 encryption and then lost the encryption certificate after i installed windows. is there any way to decrypt them

What was the encryption and what did you use to encrypt?

don't remember exactly if i used bitlocker or microsoft default encryption in windows 7 ultimate. but after i encrypted the files i ended up with a certificate (that i lost eventually ).

i think it was an EFS certificate
