How To. Electric screwdriver repair

In this video I attempt a strip down and repair of my old electric screwdriver. As ever this is not a guide but a demonstration of what I have done. If you attempt this it is entirely at your own risk. Please be aware that overcharging batteries can make them overheat and the possibility of fire. Always use the correct type and voltage of battery for your application.

Great video. Mine is similar but only works in reverse. The white block under the trigger switch? Is that the switching component?

Hi. The best thing to do is to search for a battery type specific charger, "Ni-MH charger" for instance. As a rule of thumb you should always match the charger to the type of battery used as slower discharge batteries tend to need slower charging etc. Thanks for the question and if you found this useful then please leave a like and consider subscribing. What is the difference between a Type 2 and Type 3 lithium screwdriver ? The 2 screwdrivers below both use the exact same charger with the same Black & Decker part number I bought 2 different models of Black & Decker Lithium screwdrivers one model LI3100 Type-3 3.6V 180 RPM & one model LI2000 Type-2 3.6V 180 RPM They both turned out to be useless crap. I'm done with Black & Decker tools. And why can't Black & Decker use legible part numbers on their tools ? I thought the LI was a U until I stumbled onto a different video.

Tech It Out nicad batteries are so cheap and can ne baught on eBay. Maybe a nrw updated video in the future? Happy Holidays

Use GP rechargeable metal hydride batteries, the quality is very good & it can last longer than those Ni-cd batteries.

Nice informative video. My similar screw driver is working only in reverse mode even if I push forward button. Any idea why ?

check the switch, bcoz there is no other component or electronics controlling the direction

Grand 2 I want to try and replace the switch on mine as it is doing exactly the same but I can't find the part anywhere or of suitable substitute.

@@AssassinGreen Use some wd-40 inside the switch.. or dismantle it's butt to check the contacts. that is pretty much ez as long as the motor works.

Hello friend, thank you for the instructional video, i wonder if you can point me in the right direction, i have a similar device, model kc360nm, the batteries inside have this code "byd h-aa 1800mah 1-2v h19" my question is, am i to believe these are Ni-Mh batteries ? if not, what type of batteries do you suggest i use ? thank you so much for the help.

You could try using lithium polymer batteries

can't take it apart the front cover is in 1 piece it doesn't let me remove it...

It may be glued or plastic welded on. maybe twisting may free it? This would be at your own risk of course.

i managed to take it apart weld yes glue definitely no cos i found that hot glue/super glue will flood under the metal plate and battery which is not good welding i do have spot welder :D

Get a decent soldering station mate. I can't take this channel seriously, when you're using something so cheap.

The Weller 25 I was using there is vintage industrial unit (30+ years old). It does need new tips but works well enough for me. thanks for the comment and have a look at the cheap and cheerful one I bought and tested in my other video. Thanks again.

Better still would be to spot weld them as most battery packs are.

The new battery are 2mm about more long unfortunately...., replacing with a 18650? The power source of 6v can burn it?

@@PupettaZoccola a series of 18650 wouldn't fit on this one, and the ones he used are 1.2 volts AA
