Kyle, I have found that it helps to put a tool number, because if you output all the cuts in one file your CNC will see the tool number changed and stop to alert you to change the tool. Having them all the same it will not stop.

I’m glad you mentioned the file info not being correct. I found this out the hard way. Now if I download a file I always check that the info is correct. This was a very helpful video. Thanks

I've heard that you should set the plunge rate equal to the feedrate for tapered ballnoses doing finishing toolpaths because it will slow you down to the plunge rate anyways when you have lots of up/down movements while doing 3D models. I've set both my parameters to 2000mm/min (around 78ipm) for both those feeds and it works out ok, even on hardwood (only tried afromosia for now).

Is there a way to edit the Vectric Tool List outside of the Vcarve Software. I currently use Vcarve Pro 11.016 and would like to work outside the tool database and then import my tools?

I downloaded the Amana tools database directly from the Amana website. Have you checked their tool database to see if it is any more accurate than the one from Toolstoday?

in your description of entering the angle of the taper, you used 6 deg. That would be the included angle. However the diaghram showing the tool in the database indicated the angle from the center line out which is half of the included angle....... now im confused a to which angle to plug into the d-base

11:45 why 1/32? I thought for a pass depth of one diameter, you don't need to slow down anything. Hence, should be 1/8", no?

Just rewatched the video. It was good the second time around too. I have noticed BROINWOOD and others are using TBN to do their inlays using a vcarve toolpath. I just watched a video where the creator indicated to be able to use a TBN for vCarving to do inlays required a person to enter the TBN as an Engraving bit. That was new information to me and I am not sure it is accurate because I believe I have selected my TBN 46280K in a vcarving toolpath and it worked as expected? Am I wrong - can I use a TBN in vCarve toolpath as a TBN or do I need to enter it as an engraving bit?

I just checked and you can use a TBN with a vcarving toolpath, so I would enter it as a TBN tool to reduce the possibility of errors.

Why doesn't it require the length of endmill? Isn't that a useful parameter?
@LearnYourCNC
@LearnYourCNC Жыл бұрын
Good question, that is a useful parameter but Vectric software currently does not require it. They rely on you to determine whether or not your tool is long enough to complete the job. Most of the time it is just fine. But if you are making deep cuts, that is when you want to be cautious and double check everything. However, it would be ideal if Vectric adds that in as a parameter in the future to avoid collisions on deep carves.
