This is a good clear summary of the options without any hype. Although the government has not announced anything regarding longer visas and, as we all know, nothing is official in Vietnam until we see the official red-stamped document.

*Wow.* When I first became interested in moving to Vietnam, I of course Googled it. That led me to assorted KZfaq videos, including Ken's. After watching several of his videos, *_your_* videos began to pop up! In essence, *that* is how I found you, Van! His videos cover things concerned with the same things in this video, but here, you have compiled them *so* comprehensibly! Well done! I'm sad they currently don't seem to have visas for retirement in Vietnam. Hopefully, they will bring them back! I am *_SO_* looking forward to your vlog about the customs, both cultural and formal, of doing business in Vietnam. I'd like to retire there and maybe open a small pub or restaurant near the beach in Da Nang. I think that would not only keep me busy, but it would be fun as well!

Came back in August this year to HCMC. As an American I had to get an e-visa, as I couldn't get my old company to sponsor me out of Vietnam. Literally no one checked if I had health insurance, which I did for 1m with Geoblue. Not Qatar Airlines or the Immigration guy as I entered Vietnam. A friend runs a travel company here told me, before I left, that tourists they were working with were never checked too. So not sure how strictly this is being enforced. Sept a Moc Bai run for another e-visa, and then this month a Phomn Penh run for a Business Visa as my company sponsored me. Why they couldn't before....TIV Now working on a work permit through a friend's company, safer then with the company I'm with. I went through the work permit process before, in my previous 12 years here, so all my documents are notarized and my US degree has gone through the apostle requirement. Just need new translations at the District 1 People's Committee.

Xin Chao. Thank you, Very interesting. I have been to Vietnam seven times and planned on going back each year before covid. It is good news that we can go to Vietnam without restrictions now, so I plan to be back next year. It is my favourite country to visit (and play golf). It would be great if the Vietnamese govt will soon allow, and even encourage, people to retire there, as does Thailand. I always got my (30 day) visa from the Vietnamese Embassy here in NZ . It may be a little more expensive than getting it once you arrive but it gives you peace of mind. It was pretty much hassle free too. Things may have changed by now though. we will see. Thanks again.

That’s really useful information, thank you Van. But it would be interesting to hear comments from the expert regarding Ukrainian citizens and visa options. It seems that Vietnamese government completely stopped issuing tourist visa for Ukrainian citizens since beginning of Russian invasion. Obviously Vietnam took Russian side here but officially there is no changes in diplomatic relationship between our two countries. So it’s really interesting to know why Vietnamese government decided to do what they do.

How it is today to get a motorbike drivers licence I do not know, but about a year ago it was in each city different. In Da Nang they give you only one when you have permit to stay one year or longer. In Ha Noi it is very easy and cheap, however sometimes they want an official translation of your driver's licence, depending on the country you come from. I only had a bit of work the very first time and then it was for all the years never a problem, you go there to the office, it cost, I think it was 175.000 VD; they take a picture of you and a week later you get your license. I heard from the Dutch consul that it was also easy in HCMC.

2:53 "...Vietnamese passport ...which would lead to Vnese citizenship" I am quite shocked to hear this from an immigration lawyer, that statement is not correct --> Vietnamese passport = Vnese citizenship. You can't have a passport without first being recognized as a citizen. Now VN also has a concept of sổ hộ khẩu (household registration) which is not a practice in western countries I think that's what you meant

Viet Nam went from a 90 day tourist visa to only 30 days before Covid - in other words, the reduction to 30 days had nothing to do with Covid. It was likely a reaction to people working without a work permit - work visa. It seemed at the beginning of the video you are saying that you anticipate a return to 90 day visas in a further response to covid restriction relaxation. But given the reduction to 30 days had nothing to do with Covid, I am not sure why you would think that. Is there another variable in play that you have not mentioned that would cause you to think this?
