12/02/2021: I just came across this video, and I really like the system you have for creating full-size folders and then for client proofs. Would you say that exporting at 1200px long edge is still a good standard image size for sharing on any platform online?

Hi Nadia! The most common methods for delivering final images to clients are Google Drive or Dropbox. You could also try other paid options that WeTransfer.

Hey, these have been so great, thank you! Great follow-up to the PS 30-day gauntlet. Quick question- can anyone on here tell me how to edit/make changes to an export preset? Or do you just have to make a new one and delete the old? Can’t seem to figure out another way (not that it’s a big deal). Thanks all, thanks Aaron, be well!

Fantastic series ! Quick question - is 72dpi for web and 300dpi for printing still considered the "correct"? standard? Also, been using 1080px long side and 76% quality for Instagram exports ... is 1200px and 100% quality "more" correct?
@pypimages9517
@pypimages9517 3 жыл бұрын
72DPI has never been a correct export standard for web or print (or for anything else), and neither has 300DPI, although many many people (including print laboratories) believe that it is. You export images specifying PPI, not DPI (look at the Lightroom export dialog box closely). Whether you use 72PPI or 300PPI makes absolutely no difference whatsoever for printing, nor to the filesize of your image on disk. You can export at 1 PPI if you wish - it will print perfectly, and be indistinguishable from an export using 300PPI, and the filesize on disk will be the same as if you exported at 300PPI. Regardless of the PPI value you use, images will also display at the same size (on the same monitor). The ONLY thing which affects screen display size or print resolution is the number of pixels in your file. 1080px on the long edge will print 10.8" wide at a resolution of 100PPI (yes, PPI). PPI means "how many of your 1080px do you want printed in one linear inch of paper?" If you print at 10.8" wide, you have enough pixels to give you a finished resolution of 100PPI. If you halve the width, your print will have a resolution of 200PPI (and will look good, if small). If you print 21.6" wide, your print will have a resolution of just 50PPI and you'll start to notice the individual pixels in the print. DPI (Dots per Inch) is a property of an individual printer, and has nothing whatever to do with any settings that you use to export your digital file. Modern printers typically use DPI values of 1200 - 1600 DPI, which means they use multiple dots of ink to recreate each of the pixels in your 1080px digital file. If you stretch your digital file to a resolution on paper of 100PPI, a 1200DPI printer will use 12 dots of ink to print each of the 100 pixels in one linear inch of paper print.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I DELETED THE ORIGINAL PICS? I STILL SEE MY EDITED PICTURES BUT NOW I CANT EXPORT =(

I am confused about the actual workflow. I usually don't use PS, I edit my photos in LR and export when I publish them on web or on Instagram. My monitor can display 100% of Adobe RGB and sRBG. I shoot in RAW. My usual workflow is 1) set the monitor to Adobe RGB 2)import photos, 3)edit in ProPhoto although I cannot see the full spectrum due my monitor constraint, 4)export it as Jpeg in sRGB. I just check how the picture looks like in a web browser and I switch my monitor to sRGB setting. In certain occasion there is a big difference and I have to get back to LR and make some new edits and redo the whole process. If my intention is only web or instagram publishing, would it make more sense to have the following workflow? Set the monitor to sRGB, import raw file into LR, edit it there. Then export as Jpeg in sRGB. In this case, I don't need to check if they look ok because what I see is what I have. I'd appreciate your help on this. Thanks.

Omer Ozvardar I would recommend to stick to your monitor color space for editing. Do not use pro photo if monitor does not support it. Configure the camera to use the same color space. Convert to 8bit SRGB just before exporting. The best way to export to instagram is to use Lightroom mobile “open in” > “copy to Instagram”. And check the result on mobile not on monitor. Hope it helps.
