NO JOKE...I have been trying to figure out this issue for a really really really long time now and you were legit the only video that explained it flawlessly for me and did it so well. I have been getting a crazy amount of headaches and struggles with this for so long and you answer my problem. Also potential spin off video idea for you from this one is how to insert animated transparent gifs in imovie. The trick was exporting it as that Apple Pro Res 4444, that legit was the only solution to get this to work and for it to be transparent, so thank you so so much. Legit life saver.

Animation generates a large size file. GoPro Cineform with Alpha at Maximum Bith Depth can be another form to achieve it, at a lower size.

Great vid Javier! After e is the best, it's made nearly perfect, and so easy to work if you learned the basics, not like premiere which has some weird disabilities sometimes. For example is there an option to apply an audio effect to an audio clip like a master? So if I have a thousand cuts, than all the applied effects will affect the whole edit, and I do not have to select each time every single audio clip, and copy paste the modified attributes. THX.

Question! Is it possible to create a transparent file with elements within the shot footage? Like separating out the RGB channels for instance so when you recombine them you end up with an image that closely resembles the original footage? Understand this might be a pretty idiosyncratic process and I’m a bit of a video novice, so lmk if any of this needs clarification. Thank you so much for the helpful video!

Very helpful Javier. I will try this in aftereffects. I was having an issue trying to get my gif into premiere pro as an aftereffects edited clip - it was glitching out so I needed to find a way to export a transparent clip natively within AE. - John

Thanks,this helped me for my intro for Twitch.I bought a new harddrive and my brain decided to delete the entire disk haha,with it,the default .mov that i had for my animation,so sad that mp4 encoder doesn't support alpha.

Does this work for videos that come with a black background? I can still see the black color in the background of my video. When i selected the color with the Keylight effect applied on the video, and turned on the transparency grid, it still shows a black background.

I actually just import my animation to premiere by using the after effect source file, and then change the blending mode to SCREEN

Awesome video. I think I'm missing something the settings seem to have changed in 2022. The codec for animation doesn't exist under quicktime format

Same. When I export pt mov and check RGB+Alpha I always get a black background no matter where I watch a video or put in in the encoder. BG is always black, no transparency.

@@boltieyt Yes! I found a fix. Before starting the render you must turn on the trasparency - click the button below the main window of animation (near the buttons of safe zone, preview quality etc). Your bqckground should turn from composition background colour into squares indicatimg that it is transparent. Only then you start the render - into. Mov Quicktime)

Hey All - Don't try to open this on a Mac with Quicktime Player after you export with Media Encoder. It will appear blank, but if you drag it into a composition in After Effects or Premiere, it will work.

MP4’s don’t have this, people get around this by making it a green screen background and then keying out the greenscreen in the edit after

Just go on premier pro and explort it in PNG, you can even snapshot it in PNG,people makes things harder than it is

No matter what video I look at. It NEVER goes transparent in after effects. Instead of my background being green it's black and the first step never works.

It might be that you don’t have transparent grid turned on in monitor so you see black where transparent actually is see at 0:39 in the video. Hopefully that helps!
