great video, just what I needed to help figure out an application I am working on. during the summer months I shoot video of car races and I stand on the roof of a building to do so. my boss wants to be able to run my live HD video to a tv in the bar area so patrons can watch the action while they order a beer. the distance I would guess is about 100 metres. thinking the transmitter / receiver and ethernet cable setup is the way to go. thanks again!

I am looking to extend an HDMI signal from a basement TV to a main floor TV and use my current wired LAN connection. I think most of your video is referring to point-to-point configuration, correct? Is there possibly an inexpensive solution that would let me do the same thing, but over my existing network (main router and numerous switches)?
@HowToAVtv
@HowToAVtv 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question mfranch87; If you're looking to transmit HDMI over Cat cable then we ALWAYS recommend point-to-point. Having a network switch/hub in the equation will pretty much always result in signal drop-out/interference and a very disappointing result! There are a number of options for HDMI over Cat cable as follows: • HDMI-over-Cat Transmitter to Receiver • HDBaseT Lite Transmitter to Receiver • HDBaset 5Play Transmitter to Receiver • HDMI-over-IP Transmitter to Receiver The systems differ in price (we've listed the lowest cost option at the top) with each system having differing capabilities based on image resolution, distance of signal transmission and additional functionality over the cable such as Power-over-Cable, Ethernet and control signals. Hope this helps; if you need any further advice, do let us know!... The HowToAV Team

I have a standard length HDMI cable from laptop as my input going to a splitter (2 output and 1 input), then connected a 20meters long HDMI cable to our smart tv as my output. Now, of course that long will not send a good signal, so at the end of my 20 meters long cable i put a repeater with DC5v power supply and connected another standard length HDMI going to our smart tv. unfortunately it doesnt work. According to your video, should i change my 20 meters HDMI to 2 10 meters so they meet half way? @HowToAV.tv

The higher the grade of ethernet cable you can use on the network the better, of course (certainly to future-proof your system), but certainly ensure that you are using Cat5e minimum.

I am attempting to set up a live video stream to another room about 200 feet away straight from my camera. I would prefer to send my mixed audio from the main room's sound board instead of sending the audio from the camera microphone. Since the ethernet cable sends audio as well, is there something that I need to do to cut out the audio signal from the cable?

hi there. I have an HDMI over ethernet repeater running a distance of about 40-60 m. The problem I am currently facing is that the transmitting device is placed in a false ceiling which calls for a 24/7 power source. its been almost a month since I've had this system running until recently the repeater began malfunctioning and there was no display. my question is therefore is, how do i know whether an hdmi repeater can run on a power source 24/7. And where can i get one. I am based in Kenya,East Africa and urgently require a solution. Thanks you

Hi there, great video! 😊 I have connected my Panasonic UBP-7000 UHD Bluray Player with my Dolby Atmos capable Yamaha RX-a2040 AV Receiver. But as Ihad to put the HDMI cable through inwall, it has to be 11,5 meters. So I bought 10 meters and 2 meters long HDMI cables and used an "HDMI EQUALISER" to connect the cables to each other. The problem is; I can get DOLBY ATMOS audio but NO VIDEO. I have tried the HDMI cables separately on other devices and they don't have any problems. What may be the problem? Thanks in advance for your kind co-operation 😍 Kind Regards from Istanbul...

Hi Moris and thanks for your question. We are currently putting together a new video on just this subject! The problem with the high bandwidth required for UHD is that standard HDMI simply isn't up to it over any significant distance I'm afraid! Even the latest high speed HDMI is limited in its distance capabilities. There are two simple tests to prove its a distance issue... The first is to reduce the output resolution of our Bluray player (to 1080p for example). If it's a bandwith/distance issue, the video should run fine at 1080p. You could also do a quick temporary test with a short HDMI (1 metre) lead. The best solution to this problem is to use a 4k UHD extender kit (eg. HDBaseT) - such as the below link, whihc will allow for long distance UHD transmission over standard CatX cable: shop.cie-group.com/shop/av-distribution_19/hdbaset_1025/hdbaset-transmitters--receivers_1028/60m-hdbaset-lite-receiver-uhd-hdcp22-hdmi20-poh_23867.php shop.cie-group.com/shop/av-distribution_19/hdbaset_1025/hdbaset-transmitters--receivers_1028/60m-hdbaset-lite-transmitter-uhd-hdcp22-hdmi20-poh_23868.php Thanks for watching the channel; please Subscribe for all our latest uploads and please share with your friends!.. Hi, I was one of those idiots that purchased a 20m hdmi cable. if i put a repeater on the end of this cable and then attach a smaller length hdmi cable. will this solve my problem? Thanks in advance
@HowToAVtv
@HowToAVtv 8 жыл бұрын
+Hellenic Social Many thanks for your email - hopefully we can find a solution!.. 20 metre cables can work, but it's very hit and miss on the quality of thew product and the environment of the cable run. You don't tell us what problem you're experiencing - is it noise on the signal or intermitent drop-out of the signal? If this is the case, then we would definitely suggest this option - the CYP RE-HDEQ - which helps to equalise/re-clock the signal: www.cie-group.com/shop/av-distribution_19/hdmi_1023/hdmi-splitters--repeaters_90/hdmi-hdmi-equaliser_2994.php If you're not receiving any signal at all over the 20metre HDMI cable, I'm afraid you might struggle I'm sorry. Hope this helps!.. The HowToAV Team

I installed 2ea 30 foot long HDMI cables thru my ceiling by an AV installer 4 years ago. The cable was a problem on my older TV so I upgraded to a Samsung UV55JS8500. My receiver is a Yamaha 3030. If I touched the HDMI cables the video would go out. Anyway, after playing with the cables today I have lost all video. What can I do to solve this problem? I have two HDMI cables because of possible expansion. Thank You for any solutions. Going to be hard to explain this to my wife.lol
@HowToAVtv
@HowToAVtv 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Randy - thanks for your message and sorry to hear you're having issues - especially in the festive period! The issue is almost certainly going to be length of cable I'm afraid - HDMI simply doesn't like transmitting too far... Couple of suggestions we recommend you try: The first (low cost option) is to try adding a HDMI Equaliser at the display end of the system. Product such as the CYP RE-HDEQ is worth trying before having to make any significant changes to your system. shop.cie-group.com/shop/av-distribution_19/hdmi_1023/hdmi-splitters--repeaters_90/hdmi-hdmi-equaliser_2994.php If this doesn't rectify the problem, you're going to have replace the 30ft HDMI with a transmitter/receiver-over Cat cable system. shop.cie-group.com/shop/av-distribution_19/hdmi_1023/hdmi-over-cat-x_91/ It does mean running Cat cable through the ceiling, of course. Hopefully you have easy access? (If your HDMI cable is giving you no signal at all and access to run Cat cable isn't ideal, then you could consider using the HDMI cable to pull through the Cat cable? Carefully!) Best of luck - hope this helps... And have a great Christmas! The HowToAV Team

when installing an HDMI repeater over cat 6 cable. does the repeater overheat? if so, what can i do to avoid overheating especially because the system used must be left active(switched on) 24/7 through out the year
@HowToAVtv
@HowToAVtv 8 жыл бұрын
Good morning and many thanks for your question. There really shouldn't be a problem of your repeater overheating, but there are a couple of suggestions we can make... Is this a domestic or a professional repeater that you're using? Remember that domestic products are designed and built to run for perhap 6-7 hours per day, whereas a professional product will be built to run 24-7. The other suggestion to consider is where you have the repeater positioned?.. is it in the loft or in a cupboard which is excessivley warm? and does the repeater have 'room to breath'? Ensure that the device has lots of air space around it and that it's sited in a cool area if possible. Hope this helps, The HowToAV Team

+HowToAV.tv hi there. im not sure if its a domestic repeater or not. its looks like a basic hdmi extender over cat 6 cable, you can say it looks like a coupler. secondly its positioned in a false ceiling in a large hall. Up in the ceiling it looks pretty open as there are other wires for fans and lights. it also important to note that the repeater is connected to a ups.

will this work for 4k?
@HowToAVtv
@HowToAVtv 8 жыл бұрын
Good morning Amir and thanks for your question. 4k UHD is going to work just fine, as long as your 'extending device' (such as a Repeater, Splitter, HDBaseT Kit, etc) is 4k UHD supported. The specification of your product should confirm this; check with your supplier to be absolutely sure. Thanks for viewing! The HowToAV Team
