But how do you do a firmware factory reset though. The latest update took away my hdr so it no longer can be turned on like before.

Thank you for the info. Unfortunately it looks the the power module in my Vizio is fried. Had a power surge about a week ago and since then some problems occurred that required a reset and then it stopped working altogether. White light flashes and tv aluminates slightly but no menus or anything. Hope I can get it fixed.

Power surges are the worst. It's good you tried the reset, but bummer about the power module. That flashing white light and the screen kinda lighting up but not showing anything is a classic sign something's not happy inside. Getting it fixed is definitely the next step. If it's still under warranty, reaching out to Vizio might be your best bet. Otherwise, a local repair shop could take a look, but just be mindful of the cost vs. the price of a new TV. Sometimes, sadly, it's cheaper to replace than repair.

How can I use the menu to do a factory reset if the screen is totally black??? My model only comes with a power button on the back. There are no volume up or down buttons, nor an input button. I only have those on the remote control. Is there any other way to do a factory reset with these issues in mind???

that’s tough. If the screen's totally black, try using the Vizio SmartCast app on your phone to control the TV. Sometimes you can access settings from there. If that doesn’t work, you might need to contact Vizio support for help.
