If you guys want something practical then do this - 1. Write down all your interests. 2. Research and take action on each interest per week. So one interest for each week. 3. Journal your feelings everyday about that interest. 4. Then decide to choose one and fully focus on it!

I've also found the Ikigai exercise really helpful with this. You take out a piece of paper and divide it into 4 quadrants: 1 - What you're interested in or love doing 2 - What you're good at 3 - What pays well 4 - What the world needs You fill out each quadrant then draw out the similarities between them. It's a nice way to find where your purpose resides, but it's also important to remember that our purpose evolves with us. I hope this helps in some way.

The Gravestone Technique is the one I've used all my life, as it really puts life in the perspective of the limited time you have. I'm glad that it was in this video because it is really effective!

I'm currently going through screening for ADD and the reason I'm mentioning this is because I find your videos so useful and comforting. I've always struggled with this question my entire adult life and find I tend to end up just going with the flow because it feels so overwhelming and paralysing to move out of the comfort zone. this video really makes me think that im on the right path. I left the military to pursue a degree in psychology. I left the military because I felt as if I was capable of more than what I was doing and I had this love of psychology and always found myself asking how and/or why does someone think the way they do and so to me this feels like the right path and im not pursuing this for money nor based off societal expectations placed on me. I have found a love for learning and trying to understand the mental truth behind ones thoughts and actions.

My summary of this video with my own flavour added: # Gravestone technique - (Who are you) what do you want written on your gravestone - e.g. good dad, good teacher, good husband (what your doing now should align to that goal somehow not go against that) - (What kind of person are you) what will different people say about you at your funeral? - Friends might talk about character at your funeral. This question is NOT about achievements - (What do you want to have achieved) What do you want mentioned on your biography - This one's about achievements and accolades. # The Odyssey Plan Technique - what would life look like 5 years from now if I continued down the same path? What one day in 5 years would look like? - If I took a different path then how the answers above look like? If money, what people think, society expectations didn't matter, then what would life look like? - If your path is depressing you, maybe you can change it. If you're content, don't need to change it. # Ideal Ordinary Week Technique - Think of you Ordinary Week, aka your usual week (no holidays etc) - Make it more ideal - e.g. 8 AM, wake up, 8-9 morning routine, then reading, then work, then friends etc..... - Ask yourself, why can't you make your ideal week your week NOW. See ways if you can change it.

I’m really loving watching your evolution, Ali. I used Mark Manson’s Life Purpose Guide to creating an ideal life (he wrote it probably 7 or 8 years ago now). I found it very helpful and it’s related to the things you’re talking about!
