Veteran Records Destroyed by Fire in 1973. On July 12, 1973, a fire at the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) in St. Louis destroyed records held for Veterans who were discharged from the Army and Air Force. Now what does a veteran do when they can not locate my files. thanks for the informative video.

I personally received a 10% Tinnitus rating last year, this is After 55-years out of the air force, 1965-1969, I was however a Jet Mechanic as well as crew chief , and assistant flight engineer, on C-141 , as well as C-135 jet aircraft. I also have 2-Much more serious disability claims now pending, & now under full Higher review that if ?? If?? ,I win will jump my rating to 50% to as high as 90% very soon now. I have been waiting almost 19-Months, but if I Win, it will ALL be a Retroactive payday for me, as well as my Lawyers who I hired to fight for my rights. But it is very important that you have 100% Proof of any possible injuries, I had ( thank god ) VA-Hospital recorded records going back to 1965 -1969 etc, plus many doctor reports with notes and a actual operation I had at that time, while I was in the air force to even try to prove they are all caused by service connection, and not after I left the air force in 1969. First step, Get all your doctor records , I wish all of us old timers total success in all your VA-Disability claims. it is Never too late to file a claim. BTW.

@@VAClaimsInsider- BTW the first VA-Examiner to view my case said none, none of my claims where ever service connected, None, so I hired the biggest VA-Disability Law firm in New jersey , they refiled a official appeal, using all the Same medical doctor as well as hospital records where i was operated in as well. and guess what,?? the Higher review examiner sent my lawyers a few months later saying who ever said None of my still pending disability claims are Not service connected did so totally erroneously, in other words they lied. IMO now me and my lawyers wait and hope we see truth and justice prevail very soon in my 2-still remaining claims.

While in the Air Force I flew from Nebraska to Maryland, to Germany, to turkey and finally to Saudi Arabia without ever getting off the plane. I didn’t even get up off my seat. Same thing on the way back. That is when my tinnitus started and I have headaches everyday. Problem is I never told my doctors because I was told that there was no cure for it and that it may go away on its own. I got out in 2002. How hard would it be to get disability?

I was a 19k armor specialist. Upon my ETS in 89 I did have hearing loss. They denied me. For the past 11 years my ear are ringing and buzzing like crazy. For the past 3 years have gotten worst to a point where I can't sleep and listening to even a simple conversation is a hard task. And now my ears can't stand certain hissing sound or a loud noise. I got screwed by the VA. Big time and now I am facing the consequence of VAs lack of care!!

Got a question . I filed for Tinnitus with the VA a few months ago. I was a Navy Builder (BU) in the Seabees in the late 80's. BU is on the Navy's list of presumed Ear damage MOS's . I had an incident in 1989 and I twice tried to report my ear damage and was told not to. I was told that if I pursued it there could be problems and discipline issues for myself and 2 NCO's that were supposed to be in charge. FYI the issue was that there was almost never any real supervision. So I withdrew my attempts at reporting my incident. So I recently filed for Tinnitus . I only filed for Tinnitus. So I sent my DD 214s along with my discharge paperwork , I also sent my civilian medical Doctor paperwork that included a Nexus letter saying that my Tinnitus was directly caused by my incident that happened while on Active duty and also they sent tons of medical paperwork regarding past ear exams. So i created an online VA account and recently they sent me a note saying that they may not send me for a medical exam and that they make a decision soon. Does that make any sense ?? Any advise or opinions would ne greatly appreciated by anyone Please. Thank you
