This was really helpful in a couple of ways. 1) rigging the ball to interact with your hand and not just stay stagnant. 2) taping the tripod to the floor, I've had problems with this before and the solution is so simple . 3) filming your mask shot with your with your main shot. I'm a 3d animator and I want to add more things from the real world to my work so this was pretty interesting thanks !

One girl showed that ilusion on her channel "emce□" and she gave a link to this video, here is link to her video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j9uIZ8R9lanPnpc.html. And some people are asking "kto od emce" which means "who is from emce" just to know who was watching her video and came here because of her video. I know it's been a while from you heve written that, but I wanted to explain it, because everyone was asking that question. I'm sorry for my English, I'm still learning 😊

I did notice the thumb when I first saw the video. I had to re-watch it 5 times before I noticed it though. I'm sure it wasn't noticeable to the masses. It turned out awesome man. Loved the behind the scenes look.

I definitely feel the "never 100% satisfied with the result" experience with my own work. I wrote my own video editor and implemented something called "Polychroma Key" that lets me use backgrounds that are more than one color (e.g. more than just green or blue) the way that a green screen would be used (i.e. for chroma key purposes), which greatly enhances the options I have for backgrounds that I need removed while removing dependency on access to monochromatic screens to be able to film. Is that something you'd find use for?

This is just brilliant. Thankyou for sharing your whole process. So impressive, with non-expensive gear just a lot of imagination and a LOT of care and thought. Just thinking you could hand-retouch those few frames for the thumb in Photoshop and probably clean it up perfectly, but honestly, I never saw it until you mentioned it. In some ways leaving it in there adds to the charm, tells the story. Love it!!

Would the same process been possible if you had used a green ball, that you could key out initially, then when you want to reveal it, you just over expose it and remove the color so its white? I wonder if that would make the editing easier. I personally hate rotoscoping b/c of the frame by frame necessity! What frame rate do you shoot for these videos, 30fps or 24? I like 24 only b/c its easier when i have to rotoscope, but I dont know if that affects the quality in the end.

Nice results! You need half-silvered mirror in front of your DSLR similar to teleprompters. That allows you to directly look at the camera while doing stuff like this. The end result shows you looking next to camera because the iPhone front camera is not in the middle of the screen.
