Very insightful. I got a job through LinkedIn in Cote d'ivoire although a French speaking company, I had to adapt and in 3 months I could communicate. I attended French classes after work everyday. That helped me a whole lot! The French I learnt before travelling is different from what I met in reality😅😅😅. Thanks for sharing Tracii.

Thanks for sharing! Working actually does help a lot in mastering the language, especially if you are in a predominantly French speaking office. It also helped me improve mine. Thank goodness there are companies that are willing to employ people even with their little French.

I moved from Ivory Coast to England in the UK to join my husband and as an Ivorian, I had to do the same thing but the other way round and learn English, take small jobs until I start working for companies. It's not easy guys so keep strong and motivated and you will make it. I love you all and you are all welcome

I have been working in cote d'ivoire for the past 5 years now, and I came in with no ideas on how to speak French.. but gradually I built my vocabulary and thanks to my woman who is an ivorian .. our daily communication helped me alot. It's not like they generally speak fluent French, sometimes you have to accustom yourself to the local French aussi

70,000FCFA is not an expat salary thats just 5,000FCFA more than the minimum wage in CDI.
