I've developed a way to find any piece of loot that can spawn into DayZ in seconds and explain how loot spawns are restricted by different tiers, loot tags and rarity values to help you understand how gear spawns in DayZ to make you better at knowing the loot locations of any loot in the game.

I still cant believe how mutch work you put into your videos and your website. This is what I call real determination. Keep it up! Also, can you make a video about the so called "loot lag", (it is how we call with my friends), basically if lots of loot is nearby, or a player is coming close, you get a lag. (Makes finding stashes easier, also can be an indication if a player came close. So my question is, can you test out, what exactly is the range for this? (Our prediction is, its happening because if someone or something with a lot of stuff inside its inventory comes close, or you go close to it, the game will suddenly start loading its inventory, causing a little lag/fps drop for a second or so)

@@WOBO Nah, happens with me too and with friend too. My spec is: R7 5800X, 32Gb 3200Mhz RAM, RTX 3060 TI Friend is: R9 5900X, 64gigs RAM and 2xRTX2080 super.The game simply freeze for a split second.

It's an oversized leather bag, you combine animal pelt and garden line, then use sowing kit on the tanned leather, it's just a much better drybag

What DayZ's loot system is missing is a check for maximum amount of one item per area. The absence of this check leads to what I call "swarm spawning". What happens is, an item falls below it's minimum value and will thus be queued to be respawned back to the maximum value. Open spots are usually of course close to each other as players loot areas, leaving alot of open spots. The consequence is that the queued items will then be spawned into these open spots, creating a cluster of the same item, leading to it becoming super rare across the rest of the map. You might have already noticed this when playing, suddenly you find a spark plug in every other garage when you haven't seen one for hours before, or you might go to a military locaion, only to be greeted by 7 SKS lying around. I hope they fix this some day...and thanks for the video WOBO. And please correct me if I'm wrong about they way I described it working.

I think, this is a problem on servers with low population. On a full server the free spawn points will spread better over the whole map, what reduces swarm spawning.

@@WOBO Yeah, the items being queued is an assumption on my part, but there's gotta be some sort of queue and given the symptoms of this problem, there doesn't appear to be a check for it in the queueing process.

@@christian640 Maybe, but that is assuming that the queue system will prioritize spreading the loot to other open spots although there are enough free spots in one location to restock to the maximum value. My theory would be, that the higher population leads to more of the same item being picked up by the different players in an area where the restock has taken place, leading to the swarm spawning being less appearent as there are fewer of that specific item around.

Thank you for this!! Trying to explain to my console friends how I find the loot I do has been a nightmare(since I used to own a server on PC I understand exactly how and where loot spawns). Now I have a video to send them instead of explaining tags, tiers, painting, nominal/maximum values.

I would add on that this could be done with all footwear, not just the footwraps to helps us make more informed choices on trade offs of stealth/insulation/durability/weight.

Recommend any footware not to use for long duration on beach stones/pebles -> durability is at lowest compared to grass is longest and pavement is middle.

Even if you did know the height you can't measure it in game. You will have to use intuition and experience for this.

Speaking of M4s spawning on the beach, I remember finding an M4 spawned under a table/saw horse on either the 2nd or 3rd floor of the construction building in Berezino back in 2014 or so

I got all excited about the loot spawn app until I realised it was only for vanilla Chernarus. For a second I thought it could scrape the info from a running copy and let you know that info for modded servers too.

Long-time Fan of your videos. Hey...thanks. It's been a long time since I have played, but had played a little over 900 hours back in the day. I think you might have me motivated to give it a try again. Am thinking that I might have a better chance of surviving on Chernarus, as the newer maps are the ones more likely to have players. I just want to survive without the fear of being ambushed by another player...smiles. Any suggestions?

I would highly recommend trying out Chernaurus Official Servers. Only a handful of Official servers stay at high populations while the rest like to house only about 3-10 players usually. These low population servers are a great place to refamiliarize yourself with the game, as you will often only run into one player/group of players per life. You won't likely find any cheaters on these low pop servers either, as most tend to dwell on the first person only servers. The only real issue with these servers is that their connection is not great, and will kick you from the server every now and then for "unstable connection" even though you might have the best wifi in your area. Good luck!

Wow. Great tool. Many thanks. One question. To understand the min and max numbers. Are this the numbers, how many items are lying on the spawn points and nobody has found them yet? Or is a number of 20 for example the maximum number on the whole server, including the items in players inventorys and stashed in crates, barrels and other containers?

Good question - I'm also unsure of what the numbers relate to. If a fresh server is made and someone grabs the M4 (1 spawn allowed on server) and logs off, is that the end of M4s on the server if they never log back in?

I'm not sure how loot competes for spawn points on a complete server wipe, but the server will try to keep between 20 and 10 available. Once the number is reduced to 10 it will spawn them until there is 20. The key to fully understanding it is understanding how loot competes and/or queues to be spawned, which I don't think anyone but the devs who designed the system know.

Well…it seems us solo guys (massive margin) won’t be getting “lucky” anymore… factions will will be hoarding “10x” more and at faster rate, than ever before… fuck. This hits the big chunk of the “grind”.. or a chance for solos, to “randomly” get great finds and explore. Factions will just gps, every player on their team per reset. The grind, is the whole emotion of dayz. Love WOBO, and all he’s done, but I have to say, this is will cause a majority negative “rift” through all categories, in my opinion. I honestly, like to know “where spawn loot can possibly be” but not “exactly” where it’s going to be..

So that’s why it spawns loot close to those types of buildings, I’d always look in vehicles and shed around medical to find unlooted medical loot

Only 4 spawn per server heli crash only if theres more than 4 in a server they will not spawn

I ment there heli spawn exclusively with the maximum of 4 can spawn on one server, so if other people have some or have any in storage they will not spawn unless there less then 4,

its complicated. there is a max number of certain items that can be in circulation at one time. but even if you manage to hoard bunch of high tier weapon for example, server will spawn a new one sooner or later. so you cannot have bunch of items and log off and make server unable to spawn new items.

With the types.xml file, I've seen several instances where loot will have a tag like "military" or "hunting" but not a tier marker like 2 or 3. Does this mean that if you just include the tags without tier, it will spawn on all tiers for that tag? What determines when you should or have to define the tiers for an item?

Exactly. Think of tiers as a simple system for controlling geographic placement, as opposed to tags, which are map-wide. An item marked "military" with no tier will be eligible for any military tagged location. So, for example, if you want a more homogenous distribution of military gear, and not the "good loot lies inland" model, you could simply remove any tier references from the gear you'd like to see, and every post/base/station would have an equal chance at it.

What does it mean "number of items on the server"? Is it just spawned loot on the floor that hasn't been picked up yet? Or is it total items anywhere on the server? Could someone horde 20 blaze rifles in a barrel somewhere and then no more blazes would spawn on the map?
