This is a longer form video explaining my theory and method for finding copper, tin (cassiterite) or any other ore in Vintage Story.
If you are pressed for time or don't want to sit and watch such a long video I have a shorter video available as well
The command to enable the Prospecting Pick Node Search Mode (Off by default when world is generated) is /worldConfig propickNodeSearchRadius [0-12]

Halite is also a horrendous ordeal to try to find because it can spawn several chunks away from the highest reading. In addition, it's just rare. Best way to find it is to actually strip mine where the sedimentary layer ends and the underneath rock begins, and then if you find a cave, you should absolutely try to see if you can find halite there.

Gold is only in quartz disks and doesn't show up in density search results.

Ah that follows real life, doesn't it. Well that should make a really neat little discovery for anyone just out looking for quartz to make glass or something. Thanks for letting me know. Im currently doing a series of videos where I run through as much of VS as I know and sooner or later im gonna come back to this subject again

@@VintageCopperman That's cool. The node search mode does detect gold or silver within the quartz vein.

Gold does show in density search but its usually below detection threshold.
